Re: The Rumpus Room II

There's no fool like an old fool. My podiatrist appointment is next week, not this week, as is the appointment to fix my icemaker.

I'm getting a few things done on line and on the phone which finally frees me up for some house stuff if my knees and lower legs will allow. I was on my feet a bit earlier and the right sciatic nerve trunk coming out of my lower back was upset with me, but not as bad as in the past. Hopefully, it will be nice to me this afternoon as I need to do some things on my feet.

Re: The Rumpus Room II

Mom's having a had day. She could stand up (with some help) at PT, but couldn't walk at all. My phone's been ringing all day with people setting up or changing appointments for her. I went to visit, and she wanted me to help her in the bathroom. I couldn't do anything right. After 25 minutes and finally almost done, she said the wanted the aide to come help her pulling up her pants, because she didn't want me to let her fall. Okay. So I was going to leave, because I was already late for a doctor's appointment for myself. No, she didn't want me to leave. She wanted me to help the aide. I asked what she wanted me to help the aide do. She got angry and said, "Just go." So I waited for the aide to get there to help her, and then I slipped out.

So the doctor says my A1C is up again, and if it's up the next time I see her, she'll put me on insulin. Crap. That's a nonstarter.

I hate to hear that Lis. Best of luck with Mom and your A1C.

This has been a fairly productive day, and I may do another thing or two before the football game. We'll see. I know that I have one more load of laundry that I'm doing tonight.

What a bummer, Lis, for you and your mom. I hope you can get the a1c down and avoid the insulin. Yuk.

One of the ladies in the knitting group was saying that her husband collapsed. Long story short: he got a pacemaker and is recovering.

Bellelettres and Badhorsie, may I present Ol Perf? Most of us have known Perf for 20mumble years from previous boards on which we posted together. Belle lives on Whidbey Island and Badhorsie lives in New England. Perf lives in southwest Washington State.

Perf, I hope you will also meet Joethree, who lives in England (I've never quite understood exactly where) and who favors us with his observations from time to time. He also taught us a new weather-related word which I have found very valuable: mizzle. Mist and drizzle. It's perfect.

I hold a faint hope you may also meet GoHawk, who did live in the US Midwest but now is back in his native Trieste, now part of Italy. My hope is faint because the last we knew he was in the hospital for serious heart issues and we haven't heard from him in months.

I think you know everyone else.

((((((((((((((((((((PERF!!!)))))))))))))))))))

Welcome back, friend.

Laphroaig for the gentleman, right?

Thanks for the good thoughts for Mom. She called tonight, asking if I could have her laundry back to her by 8 am. Sure.... Except that means it will have to be Brett, because I'm not human at that hour.... She seems to have forgotten that she was mad at me earlier, and that's fine with me....

That’s the one blessing of memory problems, Lis, at least for us caregivers. The mom gets pissed off, but doesn’t remember that later.

I can’t get over how Mom remembers some things but not others.

Perf, the second thread pinned to the top of this Main Chat section is a thread called "Introduce Yourself." It would be nice if you would add whatever you'd care to share about yourself up there so people can get to know you.

And, obviously, you can see what we've all been up to.

Oh, my goodness! I go to bed early, and look what I miss overnight!

Ol' Perf, it's terrific to see your post this morning. You've been teasing us for years, with a post or two from time to time, after which you disappeared again. You're a thing, and everyone on this board who knows you loves you.

The Return Of Ol' Perf!

Coffee, please, Tanya.

It's 46 and raining with 52 and storms a predicted high for the day. I expected the injections to begin to wear down, and I think they have, but with the weather, it's hard to tell. It has definitely affected my knees and lower legs.

I'll finish the laundry today....I think...lol...and need to make a mild run to Walmart for some Walmart stuff.

I slept some better but there may be a nap in the offing. I'm considering pasta for supper since I can make a one-person serving with DD still watching the house for Janet. She's still in Minnesota with her friend who is dying from cancer. I talked with her for a while yesterday evening and she said that she bought herself a Christmas present. She found a floor-length mink coat for $500 bucks. That's a better deal than the one she bought herself about 30 years ago and charged it to me......lol.

Shadow is being Shadow. You don't want to be around a cat when it passes gas. *sigh*

Good morning, all. We have 42F under clouds, heading for 52F and a slight chance of rain.

It takes two skeins of yarn to make a scarf. Last night I nearly finished the first one but my hands yelled at me before I could get all the way through it. It shouldn't take too long today, then it will be on to the second skein.

Friday night dinner with my kids got moved to Saturday night because Dave is doing an appearance at some business (broadcasting cut-in promos from there) so tonight is out. Sunday is Lynne's birthday, so we'll fete her a bit Saturday night.

Coffee, please, Tanya.
