Re: The 2020 Presidential Election Miami police officer to be disciplined for wearing Trump mask at polling station
By James Crump
A Miami police officer will be disciplined after wearing a “Trump 2020” face mask at a polling station.
On Tuesday, officer Daniel Ubeda was spotted wearing the mask and his police uniform at the Government Centre in Miami, Florida, while in line to vote. Florida began early voting on Monday ahead of 3 November’s election.
Miami-Dade Democratic Party chair Steve Simeonidis spotted Mr Ubeda at the polling station and confronted him about wearing the “Trump 2020” face covering, before he then took his picture and posted it on Twitter.
Mr Simeonidis captioned the tweet: “Here is @CityofMiami Police Officer Daniel Ubeda, in full uniform with badge and gun wearing his Trump mask inside of the polling location in government centre.
“This is city funded voter intimidation. Ubeda should be suspended immediately.”
Mr Simeonidis told the Miami Herald that when he confronted the police officer about the mask, Mr Ubeda “laughed it off.”
In a follow up tweet, Mr Simeonidis added: “Not only is this an egregious form of voter intimidation, but
it’s also a crime.”
His face mask was reportedly a violation of Florida laws that prohibit the display of campaign signs within 150ft of a polling station. Political campaigning in the course of official duties is also banned in the state.
Miami mayor Francis Suarez told the Herald that Mr Ubeda’s actions were “inappropriate,” and added that wearing the mask was “a violation of departmental orders. A police officer is supposed to be impartial.”
He added: “Irrespective of who the person was, whatever sign it would have been, it would've been problematic.”
Miami Police deputy chief Ron Papier told the Herald that he spoke to chief Jorge Colina about the incident, and revealed that “appropriate disciplinary action” will be taken against Mr Ubeda.
“Obviously this is a clear violation of our department policy regarding campaigning while on duty,” Mr Papier said.
The mask was also emblazoned with “no more bulls***”, which has become an unofficial slogan for President Donald Trump, according to the Daily Mail.

I voted by mail (actually by drop-box), but I'm wearing my new long-sleeved T-shirt everywhere I go these days. It says, "I am a Nasty Woman, and I vote!"
(And yes, Miss Grundy, Nasty Woman is capitalized because it is a proper noun. )
Re: The 2020 Presidential Election I've seen that, too, Cooter.
Republicans Have Been Registering More New Voters. Here’s What That Could Mean in a Few Key Swing States
By Philip Elliott October 20, 2020 1:47 PM EDT
Voters yesterday lined up before dawn to cast some of the first votes in Miami. The lines at polling stations in Philadelphia have been out the door since September. And last week, the numbers on the first day of early voting in Raleigh were crushing those from four years ago.
While analyses of early voting numbers suggest Democrats are far and away banking more safe ballots in these key swing states, another reality cannot be ignored: all three were red on Election Night in 2016, despite Democrats’ apparent advantages that year in polling, rolls and organizing. Now Republicans have narrowed those advantages by ramping up voter-registration efforts in these and other states over the last four years. They still haven’t erased Democrats’ upperhand, but they’ve been chipping away at it, giving the party a reason to think Trump could eek out another slim win in the critical states of Florida, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
How many voters are registered with each party in a state is hardly predictive of a race’s outcome, but it can show you how close of a mark you’re starting with. While Democrats appear to be dominating Republicans in early-vote numbers nationally by 13 percentage points, they had roughly the same lead four years ago — and it proved insufficient. Republicans say they’ve made improvements on the margins to make it even tougher for Democrats now.
Re: The 2020 Presidential Election I've had to stick by my prediction that Trump would win. I hope not, but IMO Biden should be worried. They will steal the election and maybe win outright if they are able to get the votes in those few states.
