The better ones get more than scholarships. I've seen pictures of Alabama players all driving new cars.

Doesn't that violate NCAA rules?

The big schools get away with murder. Like the old saying goes if the NCAA gets mad at Alabama Lurleen Wallace Jr. College goes on probation. They were out to get us by any means and have ignored their own rules and accepted testimony for students who said that they took money from some other schools but never got any from us. Those other schools are safe.

Well, if that's the case already, having colleges directly pay athletes certainly won't solve the problem....

As it is there are probably maybe 15 schools that have a chance of winning the National Championship. They get the best players and they also have the most money. If we had to pay them half the FBS series schools might as well drop to a lower division.

BOOOOO the refs! The Saints were robbed when the refs failed to call pass interference on the Rams with 1:41 left in the game.

BOOOOO!

The officiating was very poor and one-sided the entire game. The Saints were robbed, and that's all I have to say. !@#$ the Super Bowl.

I'm with you, Cooter. The result of the crappy reffing may very well mean I'd have to root for the LA Rams in the Super Bowl. I'm not willing to do that.

Darn, Cooter. I'm sorry. It's bad enough to lose, but it STINKS to be robbed.

I'll root against ANYONE who takes out nasty Tom Brady.

Oh, man.... I saw the play this morning. Not even close.

Showing my ignorance again.... Isn't there some kind of rule that teams can ask for a review on instant replay?

Nope, not for pass interference. There is some talk that a new rule may be written, but it's not a sure thing.

The Washington Post has a story on this, but if you don't subscribe, try ]THIS ONE from [sign in to see URL].

Huh! Just for some things and not for others? I hope they'll institute that as a new rule. Mistakes happen in officiating.

Evidently judgment calls aren't subject to review. Isn't every call (ref says it's a touchdown, opposing coach questions it) a judgment call?

On the NBC Nightly News, they ran a pretty significant section about it. Even the Rams player involved admitted it was definitely pass interference. (At least I'm grateful he was honest about it. Just wish he hadn't DONE it.)

I was disappointed in the outcome of BOTH playoff games, and I blame the refs for a good portion of how those games turned out.

I'm not sure if I can bear to watch the Super Bowl -- except for the commercials.
