How would you like a fresh perspective from a clean poll?

Andrew's poll results dropped yesterday, and they've made it onto the New York Times Daily Roundup, onto Nate Silver's 538 Website, and onto the news at the ABC affiliate in Fort Wayne, IN.

Wow, Lis, that's wonderful! Congratulations to Andrew!

Where do we need to go to see it?

EDIT: Duh. In the Indiana Poll thread.

Re: Musings

I am anxious. I am afraid the Trumpists will somehow steal this election. I am afraid they'll use the delayed mail-in ballot counts to manufacture some kind of legal challenge that will slow the verdict until his Supreme Court can figure out some excuse for how he won.

I am afraid that, on November 3, the various domestic terrorist "Boys" will cause riots in the streets. And they won't stop while the ballot counts continue.

And, amid all that, I am afraid the coronavirus will gain strength and overwhelm our health care systems such that the pandemic will be out of control with no organized plan to deal with it. Trump's new idiot in charge of the task force wants us all to become infected so that those who aren't killed by it will have "herd immunity."

Meanwhile, businesses are shuttering and citizens are losing their housing because Mitch McConnell doesn't see a need to worry about common folks. He only sees a need to install a new Supreme Court Justice who is likely to help get rid of the Affordable Care Act and to overturn Roe v. Wade. And, in the mean time, if there are legal questions relating to the election, she'll be on hand to vote for the Trump view of the result.

I'm out of cope.

Re: Musings

I share your concerns, Robbie.

I am VERY impressed by the numbers of people standing out in the rain and cold for HOURS to ensure their early vote will count.

And I am VERY impressed by the number of states that are reporting that the number of mailed-in ballots have absolutely exploded this year. The more we can encourage people to vote early and mail in their ballots, the lighter the lines will be on November 3 -- and fewer voters the domestic terrorists can harass.

A lot of these "Proud Boys" and other white supremacists are a whole lot more bark than bite. Each time they run their rallies, people come in from all kinds of places. But on November 3, these idiots can't be everywhere. It seems to me that they only get confidence in numbers, and when alone or in a small group, they lose their nerve to actually do anything. I am hoping the police will step up to protect the voters, or that the National Guard will be called in by the governors to resolve any threats.

EVERYTHING comes back to this virus. The significant increase in the number of voters. The number of voters who are voting early or using a mail-in ballot. The numbers of patients overwhelming the health care systems. The closing of businesses. People losing their jobs, housing, and ability to buy groceries. Trump's push to get Barrett onto the Supreme Court.

Keep hanging on, Robbie. I'll let you borrow a little bit of my cope. emoticon

Interesting.... The DNI and FBI Director have announced that the "Proud Boys" threats and emails, trying to intimidate Florida voters, actually primarily came from Iran with help from Russia.

The more the authorities can uncover and announce these things, the more likely that voters will feel less fear to vote. Excellent.

Elected Republicans used to be comprised of decent human beings for the most part. They had principles and strove to advance them. I disagreed with their whole philosophy and agenda but they either held the majority or were recognized as the loyal opposition. They were never the enemy and they did not consider their Democratic counterparts as enemies either. It was a different world.

Exactly, Brick.

Brett used to be one of those bright red Republicans, and we had interesting discussions over the years as we learned from each other.

It's beginning to sound like some of the Republican sycophants and administration officials plan to continue to be the Republican party of the future. I truly hope there will be a clean break -- and Republicans will have to make a choice as to which group they will support.

For the last several days I've had a growing, and gnawing, sense of foreboding. I don't know what awful thing I think is going to happen, but I seem to think something awful will.

Gads. I thought that would go away once Biden was elected.

As I ponder the reports that Trump actually got about 70 MILLION votes in this election, I recall the wisdom of our own Ms. Robbie, who once observed, "Well, you do realize that half of the population has an IQ BELOW average, don't you?"

I've been repeating that to a lot of people lately. Thanks, Robbie.

LOL! That's a good way of thinking about it.... emoticon

I'm sharing your feelings of foreboding, primarily because he's shuffling out the top people in the Department of Defense and replacing them with loyal Trump lackeys. SOMEthing is going on over there....

I share the sense of foreboding. I've been trying to stock up on food, meds and supplies. If Trump is able to maintain power he may start a war, shut down services to blue states/opponents, and/or radically promote the covid contagion. The entire Republican party is assisting/enabling him. They show no signs they would even resist genocide.

Re: Musings

Twenty years ago today (Friday) my son, Dave, went to work at his current radio station. The woman who had already been broadcasting in the morning time slot, Shari, became his on-air partner. They worked together for eleven years. Dave and Shari were great friends and their spouses joined them for some social interactions.

And then Shari started having problems. She couldn't remember how something worked, even though she had worked it every day. Finally she saw a doctor. She was told she had early-onset Alzheimers. She was in her early 40s.

It progressed rapidly. She couldn't work much longer. She and her husband moved to the eastern side of the state where they'd come from originally and they still had family.

Three or four years ago (I forget, exactly) Shari's husband called Dave and one other guy she had worked with and said if they ever wanted to see her when she could still recognize them, they should come now. They did.

Shari needed prompting in order to remember them or anything that had taken place when they worked together. Dave said she wanted to remember but it was obvious it was an exhausting effort.

Wednesday I had Thanksgiving Eve dinner with Dave and Lynne. On the way here Dave got a phone call. Her husband said Shari had died that day. As Dave said, the news was both wonderful and horrible. I can sure understand that.

I don't know what I would have wished for Shari. It's hard to wish someone could have lived longer under those circumstances. Yet, it's hard not to feel it's unfair that a woman in her 40s got such a horrible disease and died from complications of it ten years later. She leaves a husband, a daughter, and a grandson who was her delight when he was born.

Where do I go to complain about this?
