Yes, Belle it was incredibly fortunate. I saw the dermatologist with the biopsy results on Thursday, saw the first surgeon on Saturday, and the oncologist on Monday. I had surgery the next week and two weeks after that began chemo and radiation. It really was a whirlwind.

I am so glad you were able to beat this back, Brick. You have been through it for many years, and it feels so good to see you come out of the other side with good health. emoticon

Congratulations, Brick. I know you really struggled and did quite a bit of traveling for treatment, but you stayed strong. It sounds like your life is contented now.

Re: Musings

I supposed I misplaced somehow my appointments with my urologist. I was wondering why I hadn't seen him so I called today. I have one next Wednesday and had missed the last two.

I blame myself, although I am very cautious about putting them on the board of appointments as soon as I get home from one. I figure that I screwed up somewhere, and told the sweet young thang who got my chart out and checked that it was obviously my fault and couldn't have been any of the staff. emoticon

Re: Musings

Congrats on the anniversary of your last chemo infusion, Brick!

And Lis, I think you're making the right choice re: attending the wedding. You may recall that our younger son in Portland had scheduled his wedding for July 18. They decided to postpone the wedding celebration until next summer, so all of us cancelled our travel plans and asked for a credit on the hotel accommodations for next year.

Then recently our son and his fiancé decided they really, really wanted to be married legally. So they opted to go ahead and get married on the 18th, while we were at the cabin with the older son and DIL. It broke our hearts not to be there for the actual marriage, but they were allowed only 10 people, including the two of them and the officiant. Our family is WAY too large for that size of a gathering, and it just wasn't practical for us to re-book our travel plans on short notice.

So we will be doing the bigger celebration next summer - assuming the pandemic has subsided enough by then. Maybe you could suggest that option to your brother and his bride? (As Robbie has already suggested.)

Yes.... My brother seemed enthusiastic about that idea. I hate to miss the actual wedding, but we'll be with them in our thoughts....

On my way to Costco I drive past an off-beat church. The Church of the Eternal Hug, or something. Anyway, it usually has upbeat signs along its frontage and today was no different.

Love hasn't been canceled.
Caring hasn't been canceled.
Goodness hasn't been canceled.

I was OK with it up until the last sign.

Hope hasn't been canceled.

Yeah. It pretty-much has. Sorry, dudes.

I still have hope, Robbie. Researchers and experts around the world are working on this, and I have every reason to expect that they will find either a vaccine or a cure. We're just often not prepared to wait months or years for answers. But they will come. I believe that much in Science.

Timely when he said it and timely still 124 years later:

"There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that, if you will only legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea, however, has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous, their prosperity will find its way up through every class which rests up on them." - William Jennings Bryan, 7/9/1896

When I see lovers' names carved in a tree, I don't think how cute, I just think it's strange how many people take knives on dates.

Re: Musings

My PBS station (maybe everybody's PBS station) often runs music retrospectives as fund-raisers. This happens often on weekends when there is nothing else on TV I care to watch, so I'm deeply appreciative of these programs.

Tonight was ABBA for 90 minutes. I've seen this one before and enjoyed seeing it again. How can one come away from ABBA music without smiling?
