Good afternoon.... Got part 2 sent away in the night and then slept in until 2:30 this afternoon (peppered by a bunch of annoying junk calls). Starting part 3 today, and I'll be done in the next 10-15 days! emoticon

My friend who had the heart cath Thursday just came over -- she just got back the ER. This morning, she developed a hematoma where they put the cath through her wrist, so the healing clot on the artery has become dislodged. They got it fixed. C'mon, Mother Nature, she's been through enough!

Good luck with your Costco run, Robbie. I wish we had one closer than Indy, too. I hope your clingy neighborhood woman leaves you alone. Sheesh!

Hope your legs are feeling better, Cooter.

Mom drove a Toyota Corolla and loved it, Birdz. Cameron is driving a Subaru Forester and loves it.

I think the Easter Bunny mixed up the Passover and Easter holidays at my house.... He passed over us when distributing Easter baskets....

Congrats, Lis! You'll never be finished of course, because after part 3, there will be another book to do, and then another, and another...

It's raining. I got my 50 minutes of briar lopping done before the rain started. Progress is slow, but I can see that I have made it.

Birdz, I have a 2002 Toyota Highlander with a little over 240 K on it. Runs great. I haven't had to spend much money on it.

You don't want something that big. You might check out the smaller SUVs that are quite handy, and get a used vehicle. You can get certified ones that have supposed to have been gone over with a fine tooth comb and everything is in good shape. There are also small crossovers, which are sedans with a back like an SUV instead of a trunk.

Robbie's RAV 4 is a really good vehicle. I need the larger size because of my size and how much !@#$ I haul to Arkansas when we go trout [sign in to see URL]. May 16th I will be on the river until the 20th!!

Thanks for your car advice, everyone. I’m still undecided, and considering the Prius or Camry.

When DH and I went to our Lions Club meeting this evening, I was “ambushed” at the door by the King Lion, who asked me if I’d agree to take on a two year gig on the chapter’s board of directors. DH’s term on the board is up, and it looks like I’m taking his place. It’s not a hard job, just attend a meeting every other month and vote on project and spending proposals.

The chapter adopted a mile of road outside of town for periodic litter cleanup, and they announced the next cleanup date in June. I approached King Lion and asked if there was some way I could help that didn’t involve actually cleaning up beside the road, since I don’t think my back can take it. He said that I could help by chauffeuring volunteers to and from the cleanup site, since there’s no place to park on the road. We’ll probably be able to recruit some high school kids to earn some of their community service hours required for graduation.

Good morning, all. We’ve entered into a weather pattern that has temperatures ranging from the mid 60s through the mid 80s. It’s pleasant enough for me. The mid 60s makes for pleasant morning walks and outdoor chores. I have no must do things on my list, but I might do the back yards if the spirit moves me.

Good luck with the car buying trip, Birdz. It has never been one of my favorite things to do. I love the new vehicles when it’s over but I hate the process.

Enjoy the day, all.

Coffee, please, Tanya

Aren't cars like cats? I mean, when you encounter the right one, don't you know at once that that's YOUR car?

I had a wretched night and thus got up too late to walk in the dark, but I'm feeling better after doing my morning things. Not feeling well is foreign to me, and I don't like it one bit.

It's 50 degrees and cloudy and dry out there now, and calm.

Good morning, all. It's 52F under heavily clouded skies with rain obviously in our recent past, heading for 58F and partial clearing.

I think my one chore today is to go to the grocery store because I'm out of lettuce.

Sorry you didn't sleep well, Belle. I hope that improves as the day goes on. Brick, your temperatures are still in the zone I envy. Soon that won't be true.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 66 here and partly cloudy head for about 78 for a high. No rain!

I just got up which means that I had a nice sleep. Shadow didn't come in when the sun came up to get me out of bed. Bless her.

My legs are somewhat painful and stiff, but they should get out of that and back to normal pain any day now. It's been worth it to get the housework done.

You’re right, Robbie. I’m savoring it while we have it. It won’t be long before my outdoor activities are limited to going from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car to the air conditioned store. The things that are absolutely necessary will be done as early as can be just late enough to avoid being shot by an irate neighbor for mowing. We’ll move the starting time for our walks from 9AM to 8. It’s coming. 😎

I didn’t take this photo, but I did drive right past this spot today, twice - once while driving from Asheville, NC to Greenville, SC and then on my return trip.

Been there. I worked at a camp outside of Ashville one summer. Loved it!

I thought that after I paid the price yesterday for doing the housework while my legs weren't doing well that today would be better. It's worse. I can barely walk when I get up.

I have some marinated fresh asparagus on the smoker along with a nice grown chuck steak and will fix some Jasmine rice to go with.

I want to tell you my Matrix story.

One day, maybe a year or more ago, I had talked with my son a couple of times about when he could come over to help me with a project.

Meanwhile, I needed to go somewhere. I got down my hill to the highway and my cell phone rang. Almost nobody has my cell phone number, so I assumed it was Dave. I pulled off the highway onto a side street and looked at the number the call had come from. I didn't recognize it, but sometimes he calls me from work, so that didn't strike me as unusual. I hit the call-back.

It turned out to be Matrix, something I had never heard of. The woman who answered took my name, then asked for my date of birth. I, not knowing who Matrix was, refused to give it to her. She explained Matrix was a free service to Kaiser Permanente subscribers, and went through what you described above. Knowing that seniors get targeted for all kinds of scams, I told her I wasn't interested. She pitched the service and asked again for my date of birth. Again, I refused to give it to her. We did a couple more rounds of that and then gave up on each other.

Once I got home I looked up Matrix and found that the call had probably been legitimate.

I hope your Matrix visit was productive and helpful.

Where's the bartender? I need a drink. Miz Robbie, are you aware the bartender seems to be on break when I want to buy a round for everyone?

Between learning to post here, moving and trying to learn things in my new apartment, I'm feeling kinda crazy.

Cooter and Bricklayer, I relate to your struggles and difficulty in getting things done at times. Lis, you're always amazing in how much you do and how nice you are. Birdz, I want to know more about why you do 3 AM walks around your house. Streamline, I always appreciate how upbeat your posts are. Robbie, I identify with you having a pet, Kudo, going through the aging process. Suzy, you sound like the best and most eternal hostess. I love hearing about what everyone's cooking and doing. A toast to all my new friends!

Ramundo!!! Do NOT ignore paying customers!

How is furnishing your new apartment going? Do you have to replace everything?

It's Belle who does 3:00 AM walks around her house, not Birdz.

Kudo and I are going through the aging process together.

Everyone is wicked terrified of Miss Grundy, and should be.

A Lisberry margarita, please, Ramundo. Thanks, Badhorsie!

*cowering in the corner just a little bit in Miss Grundy's presence*

(Badhorse, be especially careful of apostrophe abuse....)

I hope you're adjusting to life in your new home. It's always a big transition. How is Teddi doing?

Robbie, if someone from Matrix wants to offer you a choice of pills, RUN!!!

Ha, Streamline! That road sign is great!

I'm grateful you're able to enjoy such reasonable weather through the winter, Brick. You do realize that most of us are living vicariously through you, don't you? emoticon We had heavy clouds, mist, and mid-50s today. Blech....

Ouch, Cooter.... I'm glad you've gotten so much housework done, but sorry it has come at such an expense....

Belle, when we bought our house, Brett and I both had that "aha!" moment people said we would have when we found "our" house. I've never had that moment with a car....

I didn't get to sleep until after 6 am.... Then had to get up for the cleaners this morning, then out to lunch with retired teacher friends, then a dental appointment. Then we had to set up, work, and tear down a spaghetti supper fundraiser. So I'm ready to drop.

About an hour ago, I got an urgent email from the guy whose doctoral dissertation I'm editing. He finally got the last comments back from his committee and his defense is set. Could I please reread his dissertation? Sometime in the next two days? All 210 pages? Geez.... Sure....

Meanwhile, I have five meetings and appointments tomorrow that will take me clear through from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm.... Sure....

Ramundo, if I fall asleep in my Lisberry margarita, please just keep pouring it on me. I believe in osmosis. emoticon
