Yay, Belle! I'm glad it went so easily!

Congratulations, Hawk! (You know you're failing at retirement, right?) LOL....

My poor little computer mousie's wheel stopped working a couple of days ago. Scrolling was a headache, so finally today I went to Office Despot and got a new mousie.

I wanted a wired one, not a wireless one. There were only two wired ones, and the contour design on one of them was VERY right-handed. So, obviously, I got the other one. It's hooked up and working, but it feels funny.

Yeah, I'll get used to it. In the meantime, it sure is nice to have a working wheel.

YAY, new mousie!

Glad you got a new mousie, Robbie. I hadn’t realized that computer mice were not all left hand friendly. The mice they issued at the office seemed to be designed so that if you had your computer settings right, they’d work fine for our left handed folks.

We’ve gotten 3” of rain today and the Potomac is expected to flood.

Birdz, it is absolutely amazing the degree to which this is a right handed world. And how we lefties struggle on a constant basis. Oh well, having gone through life as a left handed, one eyed, Italian i long ago learned to how to survive. <lol>

And now you're a left-handed bartender, Hawk!

52 this morning, and the sky is one solid cloud: no moon, no stars, no nuthin'.

Once again I'll go in today to get my hearing aids adjusted. The last adjustment made them worse. Is there a secret to hearing things in the wider world the way you hear them in the hearing aids specialist's office? Every audiologist and specialist I've ever consulted had this perfect diction in the range I can hear in, so how can I test my general hearing, as they make adjustments and say, "Can you hear me now?" in their adjustments, in their offices? This is a three-pipe problem.

Bonjour!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 34 and clear and will be working up to 67 today. Janet is having a new floor put in on part of her house. She posted a pic and it looks awful while the guy has it all torn up. She's using the same tile that she did the hearth on the fireplace with and that she gave me to do bathrooms when I'm able. It's awesome stuff!

Congrats to Hawk on his new career! That sounds like fun for him!

Yay on the new mouse for The Miz. She'll get used to the different feel.

Best of luck to Belle with the hearing aids. DD may have fixed the sound on my TV. I had tried before and followed the instructions so that I could hear the people but nogo. It seems to be better now with the background (soundtrack) not covering the women up, especially.

I'll be watching the basketball tournament and Ole Miss baseball this weekend. I'm thawing out some of DD's beef and barley soup that she made some time back and that we froze some for times like this.

Here's hoping that Birdz won't float [sign in to see URL].

Re: The Rumpus Room

Good morning, all. It's 42F and mostly cloudy, but I could see that huge, golden moon when Kudo and I took her first walk. We're heading for 60F, but rain is to move in this evening.

Hawk, I was frankly surprised at the design of the mouse that was so right-handed. In the last couple of decades designers seem to have caught on to the fact that some of us are left-handed and have adjusted their products accordingly. Whoever designed the one I didn't buy evidently didn't get the memo.

Belle, won't the hearing aid folks let you walk around, or walk outside, to see how they work in the real world? And what, pray tell, is a "three pipe problem"?

Cooter, I love barley. Beef and barley soup would be heavenly!

My sliding glass patio door's seals are broken. Fog develops between the panes, and dirt is getting in. My handyman guy says he can install a new one, and he's coming here this afternoon to get measurements. Another hole to throw money into.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

I went back to bed for an hour and a half and dreamed that someone brought a young man to my house who was writing a speech for Trump. The young man looked like a young Alan Alda. We made jokes about what he might say in the speech.

And now, “graupel” ([sign in to see URL]) is falling out of the sky. Never heard of it.

I called Penn DOT’s Medical Advisory Board to request an extension of the March 31 deadline to receive the medical clearance paperwork from Mom, since the earliest I could get an appointment for her driver evaluation is April 10. MY REQUEST WAS DENIED, on grounds that the deadline is set “electronically” and cannot be changed. What a !@#$ crock! So I looked through Penn DOT’s website and found a page to send a message via email, and composed a politely indignant message and repeated my extension request.

When I was with FDA, they tried to offer real customer service. I guess Penn DOT doesn’t share that position.

We in the Northwest learned about graupel this winter, Birdz. It's always nice to expand one's vocabulary.

Grrrr, Birdz. Sometimes I catch Parking Wars in the middle of the night, and I really didn't catch onto the fact that they were in Pennsylvania until after Cameron moved there. The poor people who are trying to get their cars out of compound are send hither and yon to get all KINDS of paperwork to get their cars out! I hope someone will work with you on this.

I assume you're joking but, if not, it's a corruption of Office Depot.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Hawk - when I was still working in a medical research lab, we had a visiting scientist from Italy join our group for a year. She worked beside me, and I saw that she wrote with her right hand but handled lab equipment with her left. Turns out she was left handed but the nuns in school forced her to use her right hand for writing.

At the hair salon where I get my hair cut, one of the stylists is left handed. The stylists are very possessive about their scissors and have an unwritten rule that you do not borrow another stylist’s scissors without permission. The left handed stylist never gets asked to loan her scissors.

I was lucky not to be forced to change to using my right hand for writing. That was still the case in Catholic schools when I was little. My third grade teacher, whom I otherwise adored, taught us cursive writing and commented about my writing technique with a disgusted "Pah. You're nothing but a left-handed finger writer." (We were supposed to use the whole arm.) Clearly she was not on board with letting lefties be lefties.

Your hair stylist got something I never did: left-handed scissors. I had to learn to use them right-handed, which may be why I have trouble cutting a straight line to this day. But it's far too late now for me to learn to use scissors with my left hand.

When people talk about "the lefties' agenda" lemme tellya, I got one! emoticon

51 degrees, and again this morning, the sky was a solid cloud.

BUT there's sunshine in my heart! My hearing aids specialist adjusted my hearing aids yesterday so that I can now HEAR the TV. I don't know whether I can hear actual live people, but since I rarely run into any, life is a lot better than it was before yesterday's adjustment.
