It appears you wished my fog away, Belle. It's gone, and now we have blue skies and sunshine.

Mike had an interesting comment about my suggestion of burying Allan with military honors. Mike, a veteran himself, said that Allan did not have fond memories of his military service, so Mike suggested that we forego the military honors. I have a sense that Allan shared stuff with Mike that he might not have wanted to share with his sisters. Lord knows that Allan bitched to me about other stuff, like asshole bosses and cops who pulled him over for speeding. He really did have a lead foot.

Mike also suggested that we have a memorial reunion in the spring but bury Allan later, when Mom passes. I have no problem with that either, but considering that she’s 97 and one of her sisters lived to 101, that might not happen for a while. But in the meanwhile, Mike’s cat will be beside Allan.

Good morning all. Thank you all for the Veteran’s Day wishes. There is a small parade here today. The grand kids will be participating. I have an appointment with one of my doctors. It is routine but necessary, so I’ll miss it this year.

Other than the appointment, we have no must do errands on tap for the day. Sandy will represent us at the parade.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Good morning, all. We have 31F with red streaks across the eastern sky, heading for 51F. I swear I posted that same weather information just a day or two ago.

This will be a quiet day, with nothing on the agenda. Maybe I'll finish a hat.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Buon giorno!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 46, raining, and will likely keep raining into the night with 32 as a low.

I need to make an appointment for my dental cleaning and checkup. I haven't caught them when they were in the office last week, so maybe this time.

My sleep pattern is just screwed up. When I finally got to sleep last night, I slept well. I feel like I could use a little more but if I do hit the recliner I'll set the alarm on my phone.

Coffee for me too, Tanya. It’s 45 and cloudy, and the chance of rain is something like 100%. I guess I’ll put off picking up my orthotics and buying my sensible shoes till later, and call the plumber instead.

I finished the fingerless mitts and started another pair.

Re: The Rumpus Room

We had lovely weather for the University of Colorado football game on Saturday afternoon, with sunshine and a high temperature around 55.

Then starting just after midnight, we were encased in a heavy, wet snowstorm that continued throughout Sunday and into Sunday night. By this morning, we had about 6 inches of the white stuff, and it was a pretty sight with the bright blue sky. It will be cold tonight, but fortunately my meeting this evening is an early one, and I should be home before it gets into frostbite territory. emoticon

Tomorrow should bring more sunshine and temperatures close to 50, so a good portion of the snow in my yard is likely to melt off.

The skiers in the mountains are thrilled with the new snow -- sometimes the ski areas don't open until after Thanksgiving, but there are quite a few open already this year.

We have about an inch of snow on the way tonight....

So.... Brett took me down to Indy this morning to see my surgeon, and he says the x-ray shows that a chunk of calcium broke off of the shoulder bone. He is scheduling a CT scan to see if there is more damage.

I am in pretty significant pain and am somewhat less than human at this point. Can't drive and can't lift anything heavier than the remote control with my right hand right now. So I have cancelled out of everything for the week.

And I just got a text that Cameron is back in the ER.... He came down with a sore throat last Wednesday. Stayed home from work Thursday and went to the ReadyMed. Negative for strep; they decided it was a virus, so he's been holding with Robitussin, ibuprofin, and spray stuff to ward off the pain.

He hasn't been able to talk all weekend, so we've just been texting.

An hour ago, he texted me that he wasn't sure what to do. His throat hurts so bad that he hasn't been able to eat food for two days, and hasn't drunk much, either, so he feels dehydrated. He can breathe okay, but when he coughs, there's a little blood in the phlegm.

I told him to get right to the ER. He is dehydrated, so they've got him on IV fluids already. They're testing, and their initial thought is that it's tonsillitis.... Oh, joy....

Prayers for Cameron and for you too, Lis! Pain sucks.

Since the weather forecaster on TV said that the rain would hold off till dusk, I went out, got my orthotics, and went to the shoe store that’s the place to go if you’re dealing with custom orthotics. The salesmen understand the challenges of finding shoes that fit with the orthotics, and the poor guy found me to be a challenging customer with my high arches. After failing to even get one foot into several pairs, he found some. I walked out with two pair of SAS shoes (San Antonio Shoe Company - made in USA!), one for everyday use and one pair of gym shoes. Even with the 15% off coupon the podiatrist provided, the two pair set me back $300. That’s ok; I’m not a “shoe slut” and probably won’t buy any more shoes till these wear out. I’ve worn SAS before and found them comfortable. They’d better be, if they’re that expensive!

Off to the Lions Club meeting.

Thanks for the good thoughts.... Cameron texted that they're admitting him to the hospital overnight....

I used to wear SAS shoes before I found Easy Spirits, and I just loved them! So glad you got TWO, Birdz!

The weather forecaster has just used a four-letter word beginning with “s,” and I’m not referring to the word that one does not use in front of one’s parents or teachers while growing up. Yes, they’re calling for the possibility of a bit of snow on Thursday.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Greetings my friends.

Lis, i am so sorry to hear of your health issues. Nothing can be quite as painful as an orthopedic issue. And shoulder surgeries can be the worst of the orthopedic lot. I had two knee replanememt surgeries, and a major shoulder surgery to reconstruct two of the four tendons tthat make up the rotator cuff. While the pain associated with the knee surgeries was severe, it paled in compariso to the pain associated with the shoulder surgery and rehab. Any shoulder injury or surgery is impacted by the fact that the shoulder joint has by far the widest range of motion of any joint in the body.

Birdz, glad to hear of your new shoes. Hope they work out out well for you.

15*C (58*or 59*F), almost total cloud cover. Bit of a breeze off the water.

Double espresso and a Cantucci biscotti di Prato please.

Lis, I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. A chunk of calcium breaking off a bone sounds serious. Is the calcium just floating around near the bone? I hope your pain has eased by this morning.

Good morning, all. We have 32F and clear skies, heading for 55F with rain moving in tonight. I hope California gets some of the wet stuff, too.

Nothing on the agenda for today.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Bonjour!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 34 and partly cloudy this morning and it's not going to get much warmer with a low of 28 tonight.

I'm supposed to have a contractor come by today to give me an estimate on the repair work from the water damage.

I've pulled a couple of NY strips out of the freezer and will get DD to do a salad for supper. I've been going through some clothes that I either can't or don't wear to give to a Grandmother friend of mine who is raising three boys as well as getting rid of some other stuff bit by bit.
