Re: The Rumpus Room

I got two hanks of hand-died yarn today. One is a variety of greens, the other is a variety of yellows. Neither is my usual color, but both were so well done I wanted them. The yellow is a ball of sunshine!

Each is only enough yarn to make a hat, but they'll be wonderful hats!

Birdz, you're a far more experienced knitter than I am. And your explanation was far better and more complete than mine. Thanks!

Morning, Rumpions:

52 degrees, cloudy, and breezy. We're supposed to have wall-to-wall sun today. Whee!

I am so happy for Andrew, Lis! It's wonderful to be able to take pleasure in your job, among people who respect you.

And you! A 700-page novel manuscript to edit, written over 14 years. It's wonderful to edit a manuscript by a good writer.

Robbie, I'm glad you found some yard you really like. You're going to take pleasure in your work too, and in the end you're going to have something beautiful.

Good luck with your wrap, Birdz.

Cooter, you can't possibly enjoy this place as much as I do. (Can you?)

Happy Yarn Day!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 76 and mostly sunny headed for ninety.

I had one of my [sign in to see URL]'t get comfortable, couldn't sleep in spite of two sleeping pills, couldn't doze off in the recliner, went back to bed, took a third sleeping pill and may have slept a little. Poor Shadow is being a Daddy's girl this morning and Daddy can't stay still for her. I think I forgot to give her her canned food supper last night. I have to turn the laundry room light on at night to remind me.

I've been cold and am still cold but feel muggy at the same time. I figure I'll get sleepy eventually and nap in the chair.

Good morning, all. We have 51F with broken clouds, heading for a forecast high or 61F and a 50% chance of rain. I wouldn't mind a bit more rain.

I put my two new balls of yarn in my yarn stash box so that I am required to finish projects now underway before having the fun of those two. Good incentive for me to keep going on the unfinished ones.

It's laundry day. It's underway.

Cooter, are you coming down with DD's crud?

Coffee, please, Tanya.

No. Bear with [sign in to see URL] had a miserable night trying to sleep, with each nostril taking turns being stopped up. Couldn't sleep as I've already said. I wasn't breathing well so once I got four hours on the machine I took the mask off.

This has also been a miserable morning. I haven't been moving very well and haven't wanted to stand and fix breakfast. I'm working on that, and I think I can fix my usual Sunday breakfast now. I just get a sneezing fit every now and then and my sinuses run. Doesn't last very long and they can happen anywhere. Once that pretty much ended I hit a hot shower and feel better. I'm about to go fix something to eat.

Guten Morgen!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 79 and there's a chance for some boomers a little later. I just set the radar in motion and it looks like it's moving from NW to SE instead of SW to [sign in to see URL] means we won't get it.

Shadow is wound up. It's not hyperdrive, but she's tearing around some and having fun with one of her toys.

I'm thinking of getting a new refrigerator. The one that I have is fine for one person, but the layout isn't very good for two. They're marked way down right now. It will have to fit under a cabinet and next to the sink, though. That might be an issue.

Good luck finding the new fridge, Cooter!

I got an interesting message through Facebook this morning. The woman was asking if I had any connection to two names -- my grandmother and my great-aunt. Turns out she's the great-granddaughter of another great-aunt. I'm horrible at understanding connections, but I think she's a second cousin, once removed? Her grandfather and my mother are first cousins.... She is just now starting into genealogy, and she wanted to know if I had family information. Her dad was so excited that we had connected, and he was asking all kinds of information about Mom and sharing details (unprompted) that proved she wasn't just a kook looking for private information. She sent a picture of her parents -- and Mom was excited to see that. So cool to connect....

Storms in southern Indiana, but I don't think they'll get up here. It has been a very dark day.

Still fighting this darn bronchitis. Haven't had a voice for a week and a half. No one is complaining about that! LOL....

Good luck with the upper respiratory stuff, Lis.

I'm going to pull the trigger on the fridge. It's a side by side with all adjustable shelves with the icemaker hidden in the door of the freezer. Stainless steel Kenmore that's normally close to $2K for a little over $1K. It's much better arranged and has a little more space than mine. I've done well in the market, so I figured why not?

Running errands has gotten to my legs. That had been a decent day up until then. I can sit down now though, so I'm OK!

I'm going to check and see if I can donate my old fridge to a little country church that could use one. I've done that before and the members appreciated it big time! They had built a Fellowship Hall, but didn't have money left to stock it with appliances. They can grill out until they can afford a stove, is their plan. Or was.

How cool, Cooter. Win, win!

Well, it turns out that meek little family may be a bit infamous. When Andrew was working on his 4-H genealogy, we met with Mom's cousin. She had a lot of colorful family stories -- including the story that one of Mom's aunts made moonshine in her bathtub! Both Mom and her sister were floored. Aunt Mary? No way.... She was SO very quiet and religious and nearly blind. No way. So we just tucked it away as a tall tale....

Well, the woman today confirmed it! And her grandfather was her delivery runner! He claimed he had delivered to Capone.... Don't know if that's true, but 1920s Chicago? It's possible....

*shaking head*

Love the story about your Aunt Mary, Lis! We had a few colorful characters on both my mother's and father's sides of the family, but I don't know that any of them were "rum runners" or moonshiners!

Cooter, that's a great idea to donate the fridge. I'm sure the church will appreciate it. I just hope you get some relief from your health issues soon.

Time to start packing before tomorrow's early morning airport run. Enjoy yourselves while I'm gone. I certainly plan to enjoy MYSELF!! emoticon

Hola!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 73 and sunny with a chance of showers and boomers today and tonight. They've got it at thirty percent. A few years ago when they said thirty percent we all ran for cover, because we always got hammered. Eighty percent got a yawn.

I told DD last night that I've gotten in a cooking rut, and that I need to start creating more again. I have to be careful because of her diet, though. I thawed some shrimp out yesterday and she made stir fry with stuff her mother had sent down. It was really good! I've been thinking about adding some oriental stuff to our diet.

She's got gluten free pasta and I've bot some sweet Italian sausage, so that sounds good for one night. I've got plenty of thyme. Unfortunately none of the other stuff came up. I guess the seeds were old.

Good morning, all. We have 48F and some high fog, heading for a high of 67F and possible rain tonight. I like the Camelot rain program, in which it only rains overnight.

I need a grocery store run today, but there's nothing else on my agenda.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

I talked to Fidelity about the mandatory distribution that I have to take from my IRA. I had gotten a letter from them concerning it and did I want to set it up on an automatic withdrawal. They figured it differently than I have been based on their website.

I talked to a rep who looked at what I've been doing and he said that I'm OK. I had been a little off in some past years but that the IRS wouldn't care. I'll need to take out some more this year which I was going to do anyway to pay for a stem cell treatment. I had already taken one that was less than what I'm supposed to take.
