Trump attacks Obama for statement on shootings

By QUINT FORGEY | 08/06/2019 07:46 AM EDT | Updated 08/06/2019 08:12 AM EDT

President Donald Trump on Tuesday attacked former President Barack Obama over the latter's statement on the weekend’s mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, tweeting edited quotes from Fox News hosts to make his point and again claiming he is “the least racist person” in the world.

“‘Did George Bush ever condemn President Obama after Sandy Hook. President Obama had 32 mass shootings during his reign. Not many people said Obama is out of Control,'” Trump wrote online. “'Mass shootings were happening before the President even thought about running for Pres.' @kilmeade @foxandfriends”

Trump’s message was a distillation of a sentiment “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade expressed on air shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. The president followed up that tweet with another post paraphrasing a comment from Kilmeade’s morning show colleague, Ainsley Earhardt.

“‘It’s political season and the election is around the corner. They want to continue to push that racist narrative.’ @ainsleyearhardt @foxandfriends,” Trump continued. “And I am the least racist person. Black, Hispanic and Asian Unemployment is the lowest (BEST) in the history of the United States!”

Obama on Monday afternoon lamented the violence that transpired Saturday morning in El Paso, Texas, and early Sunday morning in Dayton, Ohio, which left at least 31 people dead and injured dozens more.

In his statement, Obama called on Americans to “soundly reject language coming out of the mouths of any of our leaders that feeds a climate of fear and hatred or normalizes racist sentiments.” The former president did not mention Trump, or any other politician, by name.
The 21-year-old white man accused of carrying out the El Paso shooting is suspected of authoring a racist, anti-Hispanic manifesto before his rampage, and many high-profile Democrats have partly blamed the president’s history of incendiary immigration rhetoric for the attack.

Trump on Monday morning condemned “racism, bigotry and white supremacy” during a televised address from the White House. “Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul,” he said.

For years, Trump has referred to himself as the "least racist" person on Earth, touting that self-designation as recently as last week after he was widely rebuked for his criticism of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the city of Baltimore and four progressive congresswomen of color.

Just one question:

Has ANYONE here EVER felt the need to announce to others, "I am not a racist," let alone "the least racist person in the world"?

Trump has felt the need to do this over and over and over and over.

I wonder why Trump even FEELS the need to defend himself.

Could it be that a very tiny piece of himself knows the truth?

Yeah, I know, it has to be a VERY teeny, tiny piece.

'Be quiet!': Trump mocks O'Rourke before traveling to El Paso

By QUINT FORGEY | 08/07/2019 06:56 AM EDT | Updated 08/07/2019 08:34 AM EDT

President Donald Trump on Tuesday night mocked Beto O’Rourke’s performance in the Democratic presidential primary and commanded him to “be quiet" in the wake of a mass shooting in the former congressman's hometown of El Paso, Texas, where the president will visit Wednesday.

“Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement - & be quiet!” the president wrote on Twitter.

Trump earlier Tuesday evening confirmed plans to travel to El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday and “meet with First Responders, Law Enforcement, and some of the victims of the terrible shootings” in the two cities that suffered mass shootings within 13 hours of each other over the weekend.

While the motive for the Ohio killings is unclear, high-profile Democrats have partly blamed Trump and his incendiary immigration rhetoric for the violence in El Paso. The alleged gunman in that incident, a 21-year-old white man, is suspected to have authored and posted online a racist, anti-Hispanic manifesto before killing nearly two dozen people Saturday morning at a Walmart in the Southwestern border town, which is majority Latino.

O’Rourke, who has urged Trump to stay away from El Paso following the shooting, replied to the president online early Wednesday morning, tweeting: “22 people in my hometown are dead after an act of terror inspired by your racism. El Paso will not be quiet and neither will I.”

O’Rourke’s presidential campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), a Hispanic congresswoman who represents the vast majority of El Paso in the House of Representatives, has also requested that Trump not visit her district. “From my perspective, he is not welcome here,” she told MSNBC on Monday.

Absolutely, Brick. These talking heads all seem so confused by the difference between "Teleprompter Trump" and free-speaking or free-tweeting Trump.

Seriously, folks, it isn't hard at ALL to separate. What he reads from the teleprompter was written by someone else. What comes directly from his brain is all him.

Good for Beto's response!

But I'm confused by the Liar-in-Chief's assertion that he "trounced" O'Rourke. Trump has NEVER been in an electoral contest with O'Rourke.

And if ANYONE should be quiet, it's Trump.

I’m doubly confused because Trump is claiming that he is keeping his response to this tragedy out of the political arena while in the same breath telling Presidential hopeful, Beto O’Rourke to shut up.

Look away if you don't want to see, but these are Trump's tweets since the El Paso tragedy (with his retweets of others and his thanks for praise of him removed). This is how he is "keeping his response to this tragedy out of the political arena":

Aug 3, 1:10 PM: Terrible shootings in ElPaso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!

Aug 3, 1:24 PM: Fight hard tonight Colby. You are a real Champ! #MAGA [Attached to photo with WWE fighter]

Aug 3, 1:57 PM: 'God be with you all': Trump pledges full support for El Paso shooting victims as lawmakers also grieve [Linked to USA Today article with that headline]

Aug 3, 9:19 PM: Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas, was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people. Melania and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the great people of Texas.

Aug 4, 5:13 PM: The FBI, local and state law enforcement are working together in El Paso and in Dayton, Ohio. Information is rapidly being accumulated in Dayton. Much has already be learned in El Paso. Law enforcement was very rapid in both instances. Updates will be given throughout the day!

Aug 4, 12:38 PM: God bless the people of El Paso, Texas. God bless the people of Dayton, Ohio.

Aug 4, 12:49 PM: Today, I authorized the lowering of the flags to half-staff at all Federal Government buildings in honor of the victims of the tragedies in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. The flags at the White House will be lowered today through Thursday, August 8. Melania and I are praying for all those impacted by this unspeakable act of evil!

Aug 5, 3:54 AM: We cannot let those killed in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, die in vain. Likewise for those so seriously wounded. We can never forget them, and those many who came before them. Republicans and Democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform. We must have something good, if not GREAT, come out of these two tragic events!

Aug 5, 4:32 AM: The Media has a big responsibility to life and safety in our Country. Fake News has contributed greatly to the anger and rage that has built up over many years. News coverage has got to start being fair, balanced and unbiased, or these terrible problems will only get worse!

Aug 5, 5:12 AM: China dropped the price of their currency to an almost a historic low. It’s called “currency manipulation.” Are you listening Federal Reserve? This is a major violation which will greatly weaken China over time!

Aug 5, 8:58 AM: Based on the historic currency manipulation by China, it is now even more obvious to everyone that Americans are not paying for the Tariffs – they are being paid for compliments of China, and the U.S. is taking in tens of Billions of Dollars! China has always used currency manipulation to steal our businesses and factories, hurt our jobs, depress our workers’ wages and harm our farmers’ prices. Not anymore!

Aug 5, 9:00 AM: China is intent on continuing to receive the hundreds of Billions of Dollars they have been taking from the U.S. with unfair trade practices and currency manipulation. So one-sided, it should have been stopped many years ago!

Aug 5, 9:51 AM: The First Lady and I join all Americans in praying and grieving for the victims, their families, and the survivors. We will stand by their side FOREVER! [Attached to Fox News video of his speech]

Aug 5, 11:12 AM: We must honor the sacred memory of those we have lost by acting as ONE PEOPLE. Open wounds cannot heal if we are divided. We must seek real, bipartisan solutions that will truly make America safer and better for all. [Attached to a picture of him giving his speech]

Aug 5, 6:33 PM: Check out what @Google is up to for the 2020 election! #KAG2020 [Attached to a Fox News "Breaking News" clip of Lou Dobbs]

Aug 6, 3:47 AM: “Did George Bush ever condemn President Obama after Sandy Hook. President Obama had 32 mass shootings during his reign. Not many people said Obama is out of Control. Mass shootings were happening before the President even thought about running for Pres.” @kilmeade @foxandfriends

Aug 6, 3:57 AM: “It’s political season and the election is around the corner. They want to continue to push that racist narrative.” @ainsleyearhardt @foxandfriends And I am the least racist person. Black, Hispanic and Asian Unemployment is the lowest (BEST) in the history of the United States!

Aug 6, 5:00 AM: Massive amounts of money from China and other parts of the world is pouring into the United States for reasons of safety, investment, and interest rates! We are in a very strong position. Companies are also coming to the U.S. in big numbers. A beautiful thing to watch!

Aug 6, 5:36 AM: As they have learned in the last two years, our great American Farmers know that China will not be able to hurt them in that their President has stood with them and done what no other president would do - And I’ll do it again next year if necessary!

Aug 6, 10:51 AM:
.@sundarpichai of Google was in the Oval Office working very hard to explain how much he liked me, what a great job the Administration is doing, that Google was not involved with China’s military, that they didn’t help Crooked Hillary over me in the 2016 Election, & that they are NOT planning to illegally subvert the 2020 Election despite all that has been said to the contrary. It all sounded good until I watched Kevin Cernekee, a Google engineer, say terrible things about what they did in 2016 and that they want to “Make sure that Trump losses in 2020.” Lou Dobbs stated that this is a fraud on the American public. @peterschweizer stated with certainty that they suppressed negative stories on Hillary Clinton, and boosted negative stories on Donald Trump. All very illegal. We are watching Google very closely!

Aug 6, 1:57 PM: Will be going to Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, tomorrow to meet with First Responders, Law Enforcement, and some of the victims of the terrible shootings.

Aug 6, 8:41 PM: “California is trying to meddle with a ballot in order to oppose President Trump, and it’s clearly something California is not allowed to do. It violates the right of the Republican Party, or any party, to choose its leaders under the Free Speech clause, and under the 14th Amendment.” John Yoo. @IngrahamAngle Former Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the same bill in that it was ridiculous and totally unconstitutional. Just more of the record setting Presidential Harassment. Don’t feel badly, New York State is far worse!

Aug 6, 8:57 PM: Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement - & be quiet!

Aug 7, 3:21 AM: South Korea has agreed to pay substantially more money to the United States in order to defend itself from North Korea. Over the past many decades, the U.S. has been paid very little by South Korea, but last year, at the request of President Trump, South Korea paid $990,000,000. Talks have begun to further increase payments to the United States. South Korea is a very wealthy nation that now feels an obligation to contribute to the military defense provided by the United States of America. The relationship between the two countries is a very good one!

Aug 7, 3:32 AM: “Trump Urges Unity Vs. Racism,” was the correct description in the first headline by the Failing New York Times, but it was quickly changed to, “Assailing Hate But Not Guns,” after the Radical Left Democrats went absolutely CRAZY! Fake News - That’s what we’re up against. This is an astounding development in journalism. I’ve never seen it happen before, I’ve just never seen anything like this! Is that journalism today? I don’t think so!” Mark Penn, Former Clinton Advisor. @TuckerCarlson After 3 years I almost got a good headline from the Times!

Aug 7, 3:58 AM: “Meanwhile, the Dayton, Ohio, shooter had a history of supporting political figures like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and ANTIFA.” @OANN I hope other news outlets will report this as opposed to Fake News. Thank you!

Aug 7, 5:46 AM: “Three more Central Banks cut rates.” Our problem is not China - We are stronger than ever, money is pouring into the U.S. while China is losing companies by the thousands to other countries, and their currency is under siege - Our problem is a Federal Reserve that is too proud to admit their mistake of acting too fast and tightening too much (and that I was right!). They must Cut Rates bigger and faster, and stop their ridiculous quantitative tightening NOW. Yield curve is at too wide a margin, and no inflation! Incompetence is a terrible thing to watch, especially when things could be taken care of sooo easily. We will WIN anyway, but it would be much easier if the Fed understood, which they don’t, that we are competing against other countries, all of whom want to do well at our expense!

Aug 7, 7:46 AM: Today, we honor all of our Country’s Purple Heart recipients, their loved ones, and our Gold Star Families for their immeasurable sacrifice. These American Patriots represent the unyielding and unmatched strength and determination of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Aug 7, 12:01 PM: Watching Sleepy Joe Biden making a speech. Sooo Boring! The LameStream Media will die in the ratings and clicks with this guy. It will be over for them, not to mention the fact that our Country will do poorly with him. It will be one big crash, but at least China will be happy!

Aug 7, 12:48 PM: Just left Dayton, Ohio, where I met with the Victims & families, Law Enforcement, Medical Staff & First Responders. It was a warm & wonderful visit. Tremendous enthusiasm & even Love. Then I saw failed Presidential Candidate (0%) Sherrod Brown & Mayor Whaley totally misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital. Their news conference after I left for El Paso was a fraud. It bore no resemblance to what took place with those incredible people that I was so lucky to meet and spend time with. They were all amazing!

Aug 7, 12:55 PM: Watching Fake News CNN is better than watching Shepard Smith, the lowest rated show on @FoxNews. Actually, whenever possible, I turn to @OANN!

Aug 7, 1:02 PM: We love you Dayton, Ohio! [Attached to video of Trump visiting hospital staff in Dayton]

Aug 7, 1:25 PM: The people I met today in Dayton are the finest anywhere! [Attached to photos of Trump's visit with patients and hospital staff]

Oh, and I have to add.... When you look at each individual tweet on Trump's thread, you can see a couple of the responses to that tweet. Most of them are ridiculous bobbleheads praising him.

But in response to one of his awful tweets, I think about Beto, a woman responded, "I hope you step on a Lego every day for the rest of your life."

Having done exactly that MANY times while the boys were growing up, I like that image.

You're welcome, Robbie.

You're right that you can see him unraveling.

Remember how someone said that he's not the only one tweeting? Some staff members also have access to the account and deliberately make capitalization and other errors to make it look like him.

But it's becoming easier and easier to tell which tweets aren't really his. For example: "Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas, was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people. Melania and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the great people of Texas." He would never call a shooter carrying out his agenda as "cowardice." (Not to mention he couldn't possibly spell cowardice.) He would never use the word "heartfelt." And I can't imagine he would think to include Melania on his own.

Donald Trump has accused Google of manipulating the 2016 US election in favour of his democratic rival Hillary Clinton, citing a conservative judicial activist site that frequently makes false accusations and spreads conspiracies against liberals.

"Wow, Report Just Out! Google manipulated from 2.6 million to 16 million votes for Hillary Clinton in 2016 Election!" Mr Trump tweeted. "This was put out by a Clinton supporter, not a Trump Supporter! Google should be sued. My victory was even bigger than thought!"

Since his 2016 electoral victory, Mr Trump has frequently claimed — falsely — that millions of votes were illegally cast during that contest. This latest accusation does not cite a specific study, and instead tagged the group Judicial Watch, a conservative activist group that targets Democrats through frequent lawsuits, and has made false or unsubstantiated claims in the past that have been picked up by conservative or right-wing news outlets.

Mr Trump was able to win the presidency by garnering a majority of the country's Electoral College votes, but lost the popular vote to Ms Clinton by nearly three million votes across the country.

The integrity of the 2016 election has been a hot topic for years, however most observers of the election have pointed towards outside influence from Russia as the biggest source of an attack on the election. Russia, during that election, sought to boost Mr Trump's candidacy, according to the investigation by former special counsel Robert Mueller's team.

But, when it comes to fraudulent voting, numerous groups including prominent Republicans have refuted the idea.

That includes New York University's Brennan Centre for Justice, which says in its website: "President Donald Trump has repeatedly, and falsely, claimed millions voted illegally. Yet examination after examination of voter fraud claims reveal fraud is very rare, voter impersonation is nearly non-existent, and much of the problems associated with alleged fraud relates to unintentional mistakes by voters or election administrators."

A request for comment sent to Google was not immediately returned.
