Is there any rain, yet?

No. Slight chance of rain or snow on Thursday.

In the meantime, I'm working on election calls and postcards.

And the packed boxes and suitcases are out on the floor in the "mud room" leading to the stairs down to the garage.

Oh, so that’s what a “mud room” is! I call it the laundry room.

I checked the status of my ballot, and it’s now “ballot received.” Unless something goes wrong, I may vote absentee from now on. Maryland has not yet begun early in-person voting, but it will be interesting to see how it goes here.

Good morning, all. It’s another fine morning after an evening of torrential rain. I am ready to start the next phase in the back bathroom, but I’ll wait until Sandy gets up before I start. It will be a light duty day. The hard, time consuming work is done. There is nothing else to report today. 😎

I hope you all are resting comfortably.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

It's 64 which was about the low for the night with 82 on the horizon for the high. Mostly cloudy.

I have my first face-to-face follow-up at my Pain Clinic today since early in the year.

After that, I'm going to make a grocery run for some regular supplies and some chicken breasts for supper, and hopefully, I can con DD into making some more of that chicken soup before she goes back to Janet's.

Susie, I'm so sorry to hear that fire has come close to you. As a fire survivor, I feel the most loss over photos, historical things and sentimental things departed loved ones gave me. I don't hurt over anything I lost that simply had monetary value. It sounds like you made good choices in what to pack for emergency. I hope any risk you've been in has been eliminated.

Hope all you Things are doing well. I had my first Dr visit since my surgery 6 months ago. I still can hardly walk, and physical therapy cripples me, but x-rays showed nothing wrong. I was scared I'd need more surgery. I got a cortisone shot, my painkiller doubled, and an order to keep trying PT.

I hadn't been out since Xmas eve, and riding around town was surreal and exhilarating. We passed by my old abode that burned down, and it's still a hole in the ground with a chain link fence. I've been so isolated and out of contact with society that I felt kind of feral in the hospital.

I'm so glad you were able to get out, Badhorsie! I'm doubly grateful that they don't expect you'll need more surgery. Hang in there with that PT. Hopefully the pain meds will help you get through it more easily. But that PT will make ALL the difference in your recovery....

I had one meeting on WebEx today, and that went well. Then I was supposed to attend a meeting in late afternoon, but I was feeling puny and decided I would attend by Zoom instead. Well....I'm the recording secretary, and I missed important bits of conversation that were taking place among the people physically in attendance. So I'll probably end up having to go in person in the future. It's only a monthly meeting, so once in November, and then not again until February.

So...now that Andrew is settled in, I can tell you that he's working for Vote Blue. At first, I thought it was ACT Blue, the organization that raises money for Democratic candidates. Vote Blue is strictly a "get out the vote" organization. The workers are given lists of addresses of people who are registered Democrats (or voted on a Democratic ballot for the last primary) to help people make a plan for how to vote. So they'll give the person their computer to request an absentee ballot, or they'll tell them where their voting precinct is, or talk to people about the candidates -- anything that will help get them to vote blue. So you can imagine that they're only located in the swing states. So Andrew is located in...Eau Claire, Wisconsin! They have had heavy snows since Sunday (expected to go through this Friday). He is NOT amused. He told his boss (my former student) early this evening that it was getting too dangerous to be doing canvassing in that weather. His boss said that HER boss wasn't listening to her -- would he try? So he did. Called a boss ahead, saying that because the weather was so fierce -- AND because it was pitch dark and people weren't going to open their doors to an unknown man in the dark -- he recommended shutting down for the night. And she listened to him!!! They called everyone in to do office work for the rest of tonight. 80-90 hours a week, and he's LOVING the work. But it ends after the election, so he'll be on the hunt for work again.... He's really hoping the blue tsunami will open up a lot of staff jobs for new members of Congress.

Good morning, all. It’s cool and dry and the grass is dormant so I have one more complete mowing and trimming for the season. There is nothing new to report. The current projects are just about done so we’ll work on the finishing touches when Sandy gets up.

I wish everyone a peaceful, and pain free day.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

50 degrees and cloudy, with a slight breeze. Hard time getting to sleep last night, but I slept in, till 3:54 a.m. I'm feeling pretty perky.

It's exhilarating to know you got out at last, Badhorsie, and to know that you don't need any more surgery. I hope you're walking normally long before this time next year.

Andrew's job, though short, will be intense, and give him a chance to prove how invaluable he is to a campaign, Lis. All of our eyes will be on Wisconsin.

Brick, have you thought about what you will do with the rest of your life once those bathrooms are done?

Well, Belle, I have a list of projects although none as extensive as the bathrooms. I have a chainsaw that needs work, hazy headlights that need to be refinished to mention a couple. And there is always plenty to be done on this old house.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... A Lisberry margarita, please....

I got a LOT of things crossed off my "To Do" list yesterday and today, so that feels good. Mom's nursing home FINALLY contacted me with information about her final bill (after I sent a letter to them seven weeks ago, specifically outlining a NUMBER of incorrect charges). So the list of things I need to do to settle her estate is beginning to dwindle. I'm grateful for that. And it reminds me that Brett and I need to sit down and make a comprehensive list of where all of our stuff is, so the boys can find it when they need it.

I think I'll take a hot pretzel with extra salt, too. Brett was wonderful and made me Chex mix last night. We didn't have any stick pretzels, but Brett had a bag that was gluten-free. Some gluten-free stuff is okay, but some of it is awful. I tried a pretzel, and it didn't taste ANY different from the non-gluten-free pretzels. Yay! So now we have a Chex mix recipe that Brett can eat, too. emoticon

I have an excuse for not checking in this morning. I went to be very early because I was just pooped. I woke up with Shadow looking for a hand and after messing with her a little, she got in my lap and was giving herself a show bath. I decided not to bother her and when I woke up it was ten. I had to almost make her get up........lol.

I've been following up on some chores that I started and had to pick meds up for DD, which took a while.

I just now got you things logged up.
