Ramundo, please give Lis a Lisberry Margarita and pretzel. I take it Mom was happy and you had a good visit, Lis. When will you be able to see her again? Did you get to see how other patients were doing and how the facility is faring with the covid?

Lis - glad you got to see Mom. Nothing going on here.

I’m finally seeing the podiatrist tomorrow. With the neuropathy i don’t dare cut my toenails for fear of cutting myself, and with everything shut down for a while, I’m overdue for a pedicure. No, he does not give me a spa pedicure. He just trims the nails.

Birdz, I hope your podiatrist will do a good job for you. I seriously need to cut mine, too.

Thanks so much, Badhorsie! I could seriously use a frozen strawberry margarita right about now. My car said it was 91, and we had 82% humidity. Mom was finding it hard to breathe, even with the mask over her oxygen canula in her nose, so the nurse said that she could take her mask off as long as I left mine on. Fair enough. emoticon

I can see her again next week, but the Social Services Director said that with the state completely opening up over the weekend, there will be changes to visitations, too. She didn't say what those changes were yet; I'm guessing they're deciding over the weekend.

I couldn't see any other patients. We had to stay outdoors and couldn't see anyone else. The facility is doing marvelously. The facility has more than 200 patients, many of them coming from hospital stays and joint replacements, so they can do their rehab there. And after all this time, they have had ZERO Covid-positive cases. None among staff OR residents. Mom says they are CONSTANTLY testing her, so it's not a matter of hiding them....

The ladies will return to the hair salon Monday -- and I'll bet they will be booked solid. Mom was SO excited to hear that! And there is one lady that she used to sit at lunch with. When Mom would get really down, they'd wheel that lady into Mom's room, keep them across the room from each other, and let them talk. The lady has been coloring pictures for Mom to put up. She told me today that she'd like her friend to come back, so she could color with her! Yay! emoticon

Good and bad -

Good: some rehabilitative guy who makes braces for people who need them came and delivered DH’s hand braces. They look like something you’d see on the Borg from Star Trek, but the braces straighten out his fingers so that they aren’t curled up, and he can actually use them. However, for now, he can’t wear them more than 30 min/day, since they take getting used to. He won’t need them for tasks that don’t really require manual dexterity, such as some yard work.

The bad - Meals on Wheels called to say that Mom appeared disoriented. Not to be flippant, so what else is new?

Ah, Birdz, the roller coaster must be very tiring. I'm glad for DH and sorry about your mom.

I'm sorry to hear about the call, but so glad they called you, Birdz. We're trained to give staff the heads up if something appears wrong.

I hope DH's braces will help him.

The other good thing is that the brace guy said he could fit me with the foot brace I need for my drop foot.

57 this morning and cloudy.

Thanks for the video, Peter. What an interesting instrument.

I am so happy that you got to see your mom and she got to see you, Lis. It must be a great relief to you that the nursing home has had zero positive cases.

Birdz, it's good to know that there are such things as braces that will give DH the use of his hands and that you can get one for your foot.

Good morning, all. We have 57F with overcast skies, heading for 65F with a 50/50 chance of rain showers.

I had a good start on a hat yesterday and about halfway into it I decided it wasn't going to work at all. So last night I ripped it all out and rewound the yarn. Luckily I already had another hat going so I guess I'll work on it today.

Wow, it's the last day of June, already. How'd that happen so fast?

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

It's just like yesterday, 81 to 89, mostly cloudy.

Belle, I have to admit that in my early past I have had women kind of dictate things, and I'll leave it at that.

It's shave and do my hair time, so I'll probably do that after lunch. I'm starting to eat fruit and a snack bar over lunch a fair bit of the time. I like the fruit especially and it's very healthy for me, and it usually fills me up nicely. If I do start to get hungry I'll pop some popcorn and watch a movie before supper.

Today is pretty much like other days. I am hoping that my legs will allow me to vacuum.

Good afternoon/morning....

So glad you'll get some help with your drop foot, Birdz.

Nothing exciting to report from Corn and Soybean Country.

Hello, all. It’s been a busy morning. It didn’t go exactly as planned. The first thing we tackled was removing the vinyl flooring that we put in years ago. I thought it would be easy. Not so much. I had to get a heat gun to melt the adhesive and then use a broad blade to scrape up the 12x12 tiles. We teamed up and got it done but it took a lot longer than I had figured it would. But it’s done. And so are we for today. 😎 I should finish setting the tile tomorrow.

It sounds like everyone is doing reasonably well. That’s good. We are too. I’m glad you had some quality time with your mom, Lis.

Iced tea, please, Tanya.

I started knitting this morning but didn't get far because my hands are mad at me. Since then I've chiefly been goofing off on the computer.

And some little annoying nag in the back of my head tells me I'm guilty because I'm not doing... something I should be doing... but it won't tell me what that is. So I'm feeling guilty, but I don't know about what.

I'm probably just crazy as a loon.

Oh, what a mess, Brick. I'm glad you got through the worst of the tile mess. I remember when we were trying to take down the wallpaper in the kitchen of our old house. It wasn't wallpaper. It was that sticky stuff that you put in the bottom of drawers, put directly on the plaster, and it had been there since 1970. We had a complete disaster on our hands, because heat wouldn't remove it. We had to use some kind of liquid that I think had alcohol in it. What a mess.... Took us weeks to do a small kitchen.

Robbie, I would be pleased to offer you something to do from my list. emoticon

Well, my bathrooms could use a good cleaning.... And I need to get to the license branch to get Mom's license changed to an ID card.... And I need to go to the bank.... And I need to write a newsletter for our club to get out after midnight.... And I need to address well over 300 envelopes.... And I need to sort out information for the organization I write all the cards for -- I'm now their coordinator.... And I need to make something for Thursday's club auction/fundraiser.... And I need to write a letter for the credit union membership about our annual meeting....

Which sounds most interesting to you?
