Oh, yum, Cooter! Thank you. emoticon It was an almost three-hour nap.

My brother-in-law leaves for Panama Thursday for a ten-day trip to help with his mother, who has dementia and is nearing the end. She passed away last night. I'm so sorry he wasn't there, but sometimes it's better to remember her better.... So glad he will be with his family....

I am Tuesday's Mad Hatter. I finished one hat and started another. In both cases I'm using up leftover yarn, so there are color changes as I work my way up the hat. I try to make the colors work together and sometimes they do. emoticon

Anyway, I've been knitting since morning and my hands are screaming at me.

Ramundo! Got any chardonnay back there?

Ooh! An extra chardonnay for the Mad Hatter! emoticon

I was out in front of the high school at 6:45, joining the teachers in their protest against the state legislature. We held signs and shouted slogans. My favorite?

"You gave us
No choice.
We had to use our teacher voice."

emoticon

And I'm wearing a bright red shirt that says "I'm a teacher, not a target," in honor of the state legislators who think shooting teachers as part of active shooter training is a great idea.

And now I'm off to a Head Start Health Advisory Board breakfast.

It's true. They really do still have mornings. emoticon

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 61 and cloudy this morning and should hit the 70s with potential severe weather tomorrow. Yuck. I need a few days of warm and dry weather to put out weedkiller.

I'm feeling pretty good this morning. Moving around OK and not hurting too much. I hope that continues because I've got a few things that I want to work on.

I didn't get to sleep until around two and got up around six thirty because I couldn't go back to sleep. No, it wasn't [sign in to see URL].

Kroger has standing rib roast for $[sign in to see URL] a lb. and affordable blueberries. I guess I'll hit them today for those and a few other things. I don't shop there much except for specials. I admit that their meat has gotten better, but it still won't compare to my locally owned grocery store.

Good morning, all. We have 50F with light rain, heading for clearing skies this afternoon and 58F.

The glass company is coming this morning to install new glass doors that go from my dining room out to my patio. It's Kudo's only in/out now, because she can't do the front porch stairs.

I hope all the sleepless people got some sleep, for a change.

Lis, I agree with you about the teacher voice sign!

Coffee, please, Tanya.

I decided to clean out the cabinets where food items are and throw away and organize the stuff better. I figured there was stuff not being used and I could bring some things from the pantry.

Turns out I didn't throw much at all away, but I did re-organize the stuff and created some extra room up top. I have to leave stuff that DD might need or want on the first two shelves. She's about 5' 1"......lol. She'll head up to spend the weekend at her mother's house and cat sitting while she's in Arkansas visiting some friends.

Congrats on the hat, Ms Mad Hatter. I’ve had complaining hands from knitting but not lately. DH gets some kind of hand issues from yard work that sound suspiciously like a repetitive motion injury of some kind. Being right handed, the right hand is affected worse.

I have to go pick up a scrip from CVS, so I might as well go get the vehicle emissions test done while I’m at it, and stop by and see if one of the guys in the auto shop can tell me what their thoughts are about getting a Prius, and what other cars they’d recommend.

I slept fine last night. My insomnia is intermittent, and i suspect may be related to news out of Washington. This is a PFZ, so I’ll stop there.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Hello, all. I just got back from my PT appointment. We’re testing my limits at this stage. I did more than I’ve been doing and incorporated a few more exercises at the same time. I’m a bit more sore than usual but the soreness is already easing. I have two more weeks after my session tomorrow. My range of motion has increased substantially and my pain level, when it occurs, is not nearly as intense as it was when I first started and not as frequent. I have been really fortunate in that I have had, for the most part, excellent caregivers. The PT people are no exception.

I hope the sleeping difficulties for those who are suffering them ease and some relief is on the horizon.

Good for you, Lis, for speaking out.

I’m glad you are getting some satisfaction from your knitting program, Robbie.

A few weeks ago after I had finished my morning walk when I was driving out of the park I saw a man stretched out on the part of the trail that runs alongside the road. Initially I kept going thinking he was simply taking a break. His posture didn’t look as though he was distressed. But before I exited the park I thought better of it and went back to check on him. It turns out that he had fallen and was unable to get up. I helped him and flagged a Crime Watch volunteer who called the Sheriff’s dispatcher who called EMT. The emergency responders were there within 10 minutes. The Crime Watch officer called me a week later and asked if I would be interested in becoming a volunteer. I declined, but I’m reconsidering now. I’m still undecided but I’m leaning toward giving it a try. I certainly have the time as long as it’s not a rigid schedule. We shall see.

Good news resulting from your PT appointment, Brick. It sounds like improvement continues apace.

I'm so impressed with you for going back to check on that man! Most of us just keep going and don't give such a person another thought.

Thank goodness you went back, Brick! No doubt the man and his loved ones are very grateful to you. What a great offer to become part of the program. I'm glad you're considering it. You'll know what works best for you. emoticon And I'm extra glad that you've gotten such good care and are seeing such good results from your PT and medical care! emoticon

Cooter, congrats on being so industrious! I desperately need to do the same thing in my pantry....

Robbie, so glad you'll see through nice, clear patio windows!

Hope you can find a great car, Birdz.

Belle, the president of the teachers' association came up with the T-shirt slogan. I just bought in. emoticon

I keep getting friend requests from middle aged and elderly men, usually listed as “widowed,” and appearing to be military. I delete the requests.

Thanks, all, for the kind words. It was kind of strange. I was sitting in the car reading, listening to music after having done my morning walk and I noticed a man walk by. Something struck me about the guy and I watched him briefly for a short while, but I had the feeling that something was off about him. I was briefly a bit suspicious, but then I went back to reading. I didn’t know it was the same man until I got to him.

Ahhhhhh.... You had your spidey powers working on overtime, Brick!

I keep getting them, too, Birdz. Oddly enough, more often than not, their first and last names are both men's names. Like David Edwards or Edward Davids.

If I suddenly disappear, the IRS will have made good on its threats that my arrest is imminent if I don’t call them immediately at area code 321-123-4567. The woman on the phone informs me that I will be taken under custody. I suspect it’s a Russian phishing bot. They’ve been calling me for at least two years. lol

I dunno, Brick.... When the IRS called me, I ran right out to Walgreen's and got the $2000 in prepaid credit cards they wanted and gave them all of the numbers. THEN they told me I had made a mistake and was supposed to go to CVS! So I hurried over there to get ANOTHER $2000 in prepaid cards and gave them the numbers.

They must have forgiven me for my mistake, because I haven't heard from them since. emoticon

I get those too, Birdz. Usually retired colonels who are widowers.

Lotsa widowers in the military, evidently.

Brick, they tried that one on me for about two years. Been a while now. Glad to see that you had a good day and being a Good Samaritan is a great thing. Actually, I've gotten that one and another one where I have serious charges filed against me and they're on the way if I don't call this number.

We're having spaghetti squash, boneless skinless chicken breasts and beans for supper. DD wanted the beans because he hasn't eaten anything much for a while. Hopefully, that will help. I picked up some Imodium this afternoon, need I say more?

Next, I'working on my spice cabinets.
