Re: The Rumpus Room

Congrats, Cooter! I’m afraid I gained a little weight over the holidays.

Yesterday, I had my first personal training session since I got sick. Pedro said I did better than he had expected, but he wants to further increase my strength and endurance before I start his “baby boot camp” aerobics class. He said I’m not quite there but hopes I will be in about a month. One of my quilting buddies is in that class and she loves it.

It’s 31F and sunny here. We’re supposed to get snow starting tomorrow. WaPo’s Capital Weather Gang is predicting 2-4” where I live. I went shopping yesterday, so I have plenty of bread, milk and wine. LOL

Congratulations, Cooter! That's tough to do! I hope it helps you to feel better. emoticon

No need to apologize for celebrating your beautiful weather, Robbie. You've certainly EARNED some nice days after the lousy weather you've had!

We are at 27, wind chill 18, and that's way cold enough for me. Sorry you're having to endure those below-zero wind chills, Streamline.

[sign in to see URL] meteorologists just keep adding on. The storm moving in tonight is intensifying. The 1-3" we were expecting all week was bumped up to 3-5" last night. Today, they've bumped it up to 5-7" with locally higher amounts -- to be followed by sleet and ice. Joy....

Sorry for all of you having to deal with cold temperatures and the "S" word.

I just made another recipe of the orange chicken, made some rice, divided it all into four servings and put it in four freezer containers. Treats for me!

It still hasn't gotten to even 10 degrees today. When the wind hits you, [sign in to see URL] goes right through you. Minus 10 wind chill. More of the same on tap for tomorrow and Sunday.

The dog isn't amused either.

Personal training is such a good idea, Birdz. I wish I could psych myself up to do that. The biggest hurdle would be trying to find a personal trainer whose voice is in my hearing range. I flunked out of yoga because I couldn't hear the instructor.

I got my beef bones out of the freezer and started some stock with them for soup, which will also include veggie stock.

I have leftover NY strip and ribeye steak from the freezer for meat and will use some stuff for the first time. This comes from Janet's family that includes Russians and Jews. Probably Scandinavian also.

Rutabaga, parsnip, potato, diced tomato, cabbage, onion, garlic, and some beans and beans that I'll rescue from the freezer. I haven't decided on whether or not to thicken it yet.

DAMN, but this Stoly out of the freezer is damn good!! emoticon

Usually is, Jep. A bottle that just sits in the fridge does so little to wet the back of your throat, y'know?

I also keep my chardonnay and pinot grigio in the fridge once I've opened and had some. I really prefer it chilled slightly. The red hangs out until I finish it, whenever that is.

I keep wines open for two days and then flush 'em. The reds in particular can get stale. If you keep the white in the fridge, you can eke another day out of them.

Just my peculiar way of doing things.

Whiskey never seems to go bad though. emoticon

The snow forecast for my area has gone up to 3-6”. Drinks on me, Ramondo. I’ll have a Trapice Malbec if you have it. Otherwise, any dry red rotgut wine will do. LOL

I guess I can knit.

We've got rain starting to show up in the area and it's supposed to hit the upper 30s tonight and rain all day tomorrow into the night.

Bed time for Bubba.

I wish I could. I knitted too much this week and my hands rebelled today. I tried a couple of times and didn't get far before they yelled at me.

Sorry to hear that, Robbie. It happened to me once, and I had to take a hiatus from knitting for a few weeks.

I’m determined to finish a few projects, and I’m getting close to the home stretch with a wrap. It’s supposed to be 60” long, and I’m at 54”. Then I’ll tackle another crocheted wrap till I finish it. I won’t start something new yet.

The arthritis in my hands bedevils me more in the winter than in the summer, although we're having a fairly mild winter, in terms of temperatures.

I really enjoy knitting, but sometimes my hands don't.

Hola!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 44 and raining and won't get much higher before it finally slacks off tonight.

I've already done most of the laundry and have just one light load to do. I've got soup for the weekend but have to figure out some supper meals.

Other than that I'm just watching football.

Good morning, all. It's 32F with a sky full of stars, heading for a high of 54F and mostly sunny skies. Not bad for mid-January.

Thanks for the good wishes about my hands, Belle. I won't know how they are until they've spent a bit more time limbering up.

Good to see you, Hawk. Happy micromanaging! emoticon

Cooter, you've been busy. I changed the sheets on my bed this morning, but won't do the laundry until tomorrow morning.

Coffee, please, Tanya.
