Janet has told me some stuff about when to take pain medication and not taking some other stuff until maybe late in the day. She goes looking for all this stuff on the internet and may know something. I'll give it a go. I looked a little tonight but probably didn't use the search terms together that I needed to.

I don't want to get too sappy, but I love you all -- and many who've left us, alas -- and I feel fortunate to continue our friendship through all these years.

Yes, it's home.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Good morning, all. The mornings are continuing to trend toward the cooler, more comfortable weather pattern. I took the day off from walking and will switch the every other day schedule to Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday to accommodate next week’s doctor’s appointments which are on Monday and Wednesday. I’ll do some light yard work later today if the spirit moves me.

I’m enjoying driving my resurrected truck. I took it to my VA appointment yesterday and the plan is to drive it a few times a week in order to keep its juices flowing. The new tires make it drive like a new truck, not bad for a twenty year old vehicle.

Sandy has a routine follow up with our family doctor this morning, but other than that and the light yard work the day is wide open. We have a new Dairy Queen in town and it’s beckoning me; maybe we’ll do lunch there today.

Coffee, please, Tanya

Good morning, all. We have 57F under cloudy skies, heading for a high of 64F and the possibility of showers.

Remember last week when my oven burner flamed out? Today the repair man is coming to install a new one. I wouldn't have thought I used the oven all that much, but I've been surprised all week at how many things I wanted to cook in it.

It sounds like the truck repair was a big success, Brick. How nice to have a "new" truck that's 20 years old. emoticon

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 76 and partly cloudy headed back to the upper eighties with no rain in sight.

I will have to make the grocery run today. People will start pouring in tomorrow for the football game Saturday night, and the traffic will be horrendous. DD is coming tomorrow for a while. She has a doctor's appointment Monday and her mother needs some time to herself to deal with being alone.

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 86 already here at Cooterville, likely to make it to the mid-nineties.

Kim is coming to do some cleaning today, thank goodness. DD will be down at some point, hopefully before dark. I'm not leaving the house with all of the people coming in.

My grocery store now carries little packages of pork belly cured with salt. I bought a small one and am going to rub it down real good with some of my dry rub, keep it in the fridge for a couple of days and smoke it.

Belay the [sign in to see URL] knew it couldn't be 86, and it's seventy-seven according to my NPR flash briefing on Alexa. I listen to that while I'm getting breakfast going.

Good morning, all. We have 54F and overcast skies with light showers, heading for 64F and more showers.

I did a lot of running around and stocking up yesterday, mostly getting Kudo's stuff but also a trip to Costco for me, and there's nothing on my agenda for today.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Good morning, all. It’s another quiet day in the making in these parts. I took another day off and didn’t take my morning walk today. One of the snowbirds of our group came back this morning, Marvin from Missouri, and our chat time ran longer than usual. The moment for the walk had passed. *g*

I had blood drawn at the nearby VA facility on Wednesday. I got a call yesterday letting me know that my thyroid functions are very slightly off and that they wanted to do another more definitive blood test. I’ve been feeling slightly off recently and this might be the explanation for it. It is not an uncommon event after the treatment program I did last year. If the tests verify that, it will be a bit of a relief, to be honest. I have a raft of appointments next week after which I’ll know more, but from what I can glean on my own,it is usually easily managed.

Sandy and I have decided on leftovers for dinner tonight and I’ve decided to do the yards after tomorrow’s walk, leaving us with another relaxed day. I’m still deciding what to have for lunch.

It’s 92 degrees right now. I’ll have an iced tea, please, Tanya. Plenty of lemon. Thanks.

Good afternoon....

Hope the issue is easily managed, Brick. Glad you got to see another snowbird friend again. emoticon

Glad you had a successful Costco trip, Robbie. That can be a big job. Enjoy your new flame-free oven! emoticon

Glad you were able to get your grocery run done so you can enjoy the benefits of your visitors today, Cooter.

Meals on Wheels delivery was very quick today. But I think I'm losing my partner. emoticon She has struggled to recover from her second knee replacement, and now she's down with pneumonia. I don't think she's going to come back to deliver anymore. I can do it alone, but it's hard for me to get up the steps at the houses.

I was just feeling wiped out and hit the recliner. Kim said she'd try to be quiet, but I told her business as usual because I'd probably never hear anything. Yep. Phone woke me up about 30 minutes ago, and I still kind of draggy.

Happy birthday, you Virgo you!

People born on September 15 are incredibly perfectionist, orderly but also kind and honest. They are unfailing with those who've won their confidence but they often lose their interest when they have to deal with ignorance or lack of interest. They prefer to do things their own way and although they are highly flexible, they don't like when they are put to work with extremes. They love when they are surrounded by people as ingenious as them and are rapid to show their eagerness.

Positive traits: These natives are orderly and cautious, so cautious that they often work on only the worst case scenarios and this helps them avoid a lot of troubles and always be surprised by the best results they obtain. They are courageous and realistic thus leaving the life day by day. They have a domestic and reliable nature but often invest too much time in helping others.

[Does that sound like you? I'm not going to post Virgo's negative traits, because you don't have any of those.]

Good morning, all. If I remember correctly, Perf and Forde have birthdays around this time of September. Happy Birthday to both of you! I hope all is well with you and yours.

I got my comprehensive blood test results from the VA on line last evening. Everything looked good, consistent with reports from the years prior to the treatments including a couple of consistent anomalies. The only new wrinkle is the thyroid values. It made me feel much better.

We have nothing planned for the weekend. Michele and her gang are headed to Disney for Eva’s birthday weekend. Franklin’s Brother Ivan has never been and Michele has annual passes, so off they went. Tara and Lee and their brood are taking a day trip to one of the many parks in the area, leaving Sandy and me to our own devices.

Sean is leaving Japan today and heading home. He absolutely loves Tokyo and the people. He’s already considering a return trip. And he’s looking forward to his business class return flight. Of course he’s also looking forward to getting back home to his family. This was an unusually long business trip, but what a great opportunity to broaden his horizons and open new inroads into a growing market at the same time.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Good morning, all. We have 52F under cloudy skies with a bit of mist, heading for a high of 64F and possible thunderstorms this afternoon. At least we're not in either Carolina, dealing with the effects of Hurricane Florence. Gads, those poor people!

I'm glad you got boring test results, Brick. Those are the best kind!

My yarn shop is having a fall showing today. I plan to attend because... um... because I will be a model angel and refrain from buying any more yarn. emoticon

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Good morning, everyone, and happy birthday, Cooter!

I’m being visited by a home health care nurse today. I didn’t ask for it, but apparently it’s part of the rehab package. I’ll welcome her inspecting the wound and doing the daily dressing change, but frankly, I’m sick of seeing health care providers. It’s bad enough that the marketing people on Madison Avenue know me better than I know myself, but all this has taken away what littlecprivacy i have left.

I guess I’m feeling grumpy because I’m home bound, can’t walk any great distance with the walker, and am frustrated at the slow pace of healing. My podiatrist has cautioned me that I started out with a very deep wound, that it has to heal from the inside out, and that it will take time. At least it’s not a permanent disability.

I found out that Maryland will issue handicap car tags for temporary disabilities lasting at least three weeks, so I think I’ll fill out the paperwork and ask my podiatrist to sign off on it.
