Re: The Rumpus Room
Hope your console comes and you start to get some pain relief, Cooter. Glad you love your new glasses! And your bacon, eggs, and biscuits sound marvelous!
Aw, Birdz, what a day!!! I'm glad you finally have your car and you're home.... And how kind of you and the others to be nice to the agent.
These insurance companies are something else, aren't they? Probably 20 years ago, my mom accidentally rolled up her electric car window on my index finger, breaking it. I went into the ER for an x-ray and splint on Friday night. The following Monday morning, I went in for my annual mammogram. Somehow, between the hospital and the insurance company, it turned into an emergency room mammogram, and the insurance company refused to pay for it, because mammograms aren't an emergency. Two solid years they went back and forth and threatened to send me to collections -- but refused to talk to each other. At some point, I finally got a sympathetic hospital person and a sympathetic insurance person on the phone, and they agreed to talk to each other. Boom. Problem solved. Seriously, was it THAT hard???? Good gravy....

Reminds me of a decadent breakfast I had in Big Sur, avocado Benedict, which was essentially eggs Benedict with avocado.

Supper was good. DD has gone to her mother's. I'm sleepy but it's too early for me to go to bed. I'd wake up real early without being able to get back to sleep.

Re: The Rumpus Room
Good morning, all. We're starting out at 59F with a light haze aloft, heading for a high of 79F. That will be more comfortable than yesterday's 88F.
Got nothing on the agenda for today.
Iced coffee, please, Tanya.

Aloha!
Coffee, Tanya.
It's 77 and sunny right now with a chance of showers and maybe a boomer during the day. Normal weather.
I've been a bad daddy. I just got involved in getting DD out the door that I didn't turn on the laundry room light which is to remind me to tend to Shadow in case I haven't. Poor baby. She didn't try to get me out of bed, but she was a hungry girl when I started fixing her food.
I've got to get some things ready to head down to where I grew up in Macon, MS for our 56th class reunion. I hear a lot of people are coming.

Re: The Rumpus Room
Shadow has been insistent that I get up a couple of times when I didn't leave food out and she was hungry. It's only been a couple of times. She tried to get me up a couple of days ago, but she wanted to be petted and play. LOL!! She had drug out a mouse from under my bed I guess, and had one of my house shoes in the middle of the floor. She was being vocal about it.

Re: The Rumpus Room
Well, surgery’s over. Now we wait to see what the lab results are. If theyre negative for infection, then I return to the doctor’s foot clinic to have the wound closed. If positive, I go into the hospital to be set up with an “IV pic” for antibiotics.
The car may or may not be ready today, but I got the ok to return it tomorrow morning.
Since I’m supposed to stay off my feet, I’m going to try the local Harris Teeter’s service where you place an order and then drive up for delivery.
What a relief to have the surgery behind me.

Re: The Rumpus Room
I'm so glad you're through it and doing well, Birdz. I hope the lab results will come back in a way that lets you be over this quickly!
I've never heard of Harris Teeter. Looked it up, and it looks very convenient!

Re: The Rumpus Room
Lis - Harris Teeter is a North Carolina based grocery chain. I don’t believe they have any stores north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Their customer service is excellent, and the only problem I have with them is that the store I go to is small and the selection is subpar.
However, this order ahead business sounds like just what I need right now.
It’s been almost four hours since surgery and I’m not in pain, so I think I’m ok.

Re: The Rumpus Room
Hello, all. The Pittsburgh contingent left this morning. Sandy and I had a great time and all of the kids and their kids seemed to as well. The only cloud on the event was Tara’s youngest two reacted to vaccines with fevers and so missed some of the festivities, but they did have some good times early on.
Lis, I hope you’re having a better day today. Like you said, sometimes when it rains it pours.
I hear you Cooter. I went through a streak replacing and repairing things, one after another. And I have one last thing to try on the truck before I surrender to putting it in the shop.
But in truth I have no major complaints. I go for my CT scan on Tuesday. It is the one year post treatment procedure. Hard to believe a year has passed. If all goes well with it I’ll see my doctor in September.

Re: The Rumpus Room
I can't complain about maintenance on the Highlander. It's a 2002 with over 237K on it and I haven't spent much on it. Pretty much tires and oil and filter changes.

Guten Morgen!
Coffee, Tanya.
It's 72 and clear this morning as I yawn and think sleeping in this AM would have been good. I had at least 7.5 on the CPAP but these days more would be good. This would be a nap day if I weren't going to my class reunion.
So, that's all I have on my plate for today!

Re: The Rumpus Room
Good afternoon - 2:30 pm GMT plus 1. After the metric to English conversions, it is 93 F. But low humidity (28%) and a light breeze blowing in off the water keeps it tolerable. Long range forecast is for slight cooling - upper 70s and 80s for the next ten days or so. I can live with that.
Good to hear that everyone is doing well, particularly Birdz following surgery.
I am doing well. Continue to have some fine motor skill issues. As an example, typing continues to be a struggle and is painfully slow, and requires almost constant editing. But thankfully i am regaining the strength in my arms. And my balance is improving although it does require constant attention.
Monday i begin the orientation for my new “career”. As an adjunct instructor in Physical Geography at the Universita degli Studi di Trieste. For some strange reason, they actually seemed anxious to hire me to fill a void in their faculty. And quite frankly i also have a void that needs Filling. Now i just need to translate my lecture notes from English to Italian without becoming even more boring.
