Thanks, Lis! I’ll have a gold margarita, please.

I did the mowing today, but my weed eater has gone down again. I’ve spent as much time and money on it as I intend to other than one last try in the morning. I’m not hopeful. If I can’t get it started I’ll head to Spring Hill to buy a new one. Sears has one on sale for $99, regularly $160. It’s on clearance and has the features that I like on the one that I’ll be replacing. I’ll get the 3 year warrantee for an additional $20. But I’ve been on a real roll with mechanical devices of late, the Keurig, washing machine repair, and a few repairs on the weed eater, which it now seems likely that I’ll be replacing tomorrow. Ah, home ownership.

Make the margarita a double, please.

Boy, we need a weedeater desperately, too. Gotta get Brett out to buy one. I think it's been a year. He occasionally goes out and just pulls the foot-tall grass around the trees after I yell long enough. Just c'mon....

Check out Sears, Lis. I’m not sure if the sale is national, but if you’re looking for a gas powered one, the one I’m probably going to buy is a good value and has decent reviews.

Yeah, our yard is too big for the electric ones. Unfortunately, we lost our Sears and it was torn down. But I wouldn't mind having one shipped. I'll check with him tonight. Thanks!

If you guys were close, I could make you a deal on my good Sears gas weedeater that I don't use anymore since I got a yard man. He does the main stuff, but DD and I have put in a good afternoon getting hot and sweaty. Tough day for Bubba's legs, but I've made it.

I'm thinking a Grey Goose vodka/tonic with some lemon, please. Make that a double.

I neglected to mention that we're having pork tenderloin marinated in one that I threw together, asparagus on the grill and squash casserole.

I can't get around very well [sign in to see URL] DD and I are going to spend the day with my best friend about an hour from here. She's never been to their place since they moved, and they've been waiting to see her.

Fried chicken for lunch!!

Hola!

It's 85 headed for the low 90s with the dreaded 30% chance of rain. That's when it usually comes a frog strangler.

I'm moving slowly this morning but we're still moving toward heading for my bud's house. We'll be back late this afternoon. I'll figure out supper when we stop at the grocery store.

Good morning, all, and happy Friday the 13th! We have blue skies and sunshine, starting out at 61F and heading for 78F.

I was going to water the yard all day yesterday, but my Canadian friends came down for afternoon tea, so I did nothing with the watering. Maybe today.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Already 82, going up to 89....

Mom's coumadin check appointment -- check

Meals on Wheels delivered -- check

Now another hair appointment for Mom, and then onto the eye doctor to get measured for her glasses again, and then out for dinner....

All on about two hours of sleep last night. Maybe. Blech.

Hi, all. It’s been warm today with intermittent showers. I went to buy the new weed eater this morning, got it home, put it together and finished the trimming on the yards. I postponed this morning’s walk so I could get the yard work finished. We’ll walk tomorrow.

Sandy had her routine appointment with her cardiologist this morning. She describes her visits with this doctor, an old friend, as social events. It went well. Right now, she’s off to pick up some take out, Chinese. We weren’t into cooking tonight.

Wow, Lis, what a busy day. Is there anything that can give you some relief from your insomnia?

I have a feeling several strong strawberry margaritas might do the trick, Brick! *hopeful* emoticon I keep hearing about melatonin, but I already have SOOOOOOOOO much trouble getting up in the morning that I can't afford to take the chance.... Not sure what it is; just moving through it.... emoticon

Glad you have your new weed eater! emoticon I've been informed that we need [sign in to see URL] not badly enough to actually BUY one.... *shaking head*

Got Mom's hair appointment done, and then went over to get her measured for her glasses. Because, you know, when we were there Tuesday, we specifically ASKED if she needed to be measured and were told no.... So the woman told me this morning that she would be there all afternoon, so just stop by anytime. It's a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG walk from the only wheelchair ramp to the office, and Mom was stiff today, but she was game to try. And of course, when we got there at 3:00, we were told that the woman we needed to see JUST stepped out for lunch. But if we wanted to WAIT for an HOUR.... Dammit. Of course, walking back to the car, Mom's knees started giving out.... But she made it with a very slow, very long effort....

Went out for nice Mexican dinner with my friend. We had a nice time. emoticon

I frequently take 20MG of melatonin and a valerian root capsule 30-40 minutes before I hit the sheets. It will usually help me get to sleep and I don't know that I've taken anything in the morning. My prescription sleeping pill called Sonata doesn't either. It's good for 3 hours with no after effects at all.

I may be talking through my hat, so Cooter can correct me.

My understanding is that if the body temperature cools, we fall asleep. That's why getting caught in an avalanche is so dangerous. My understanding further is that melatonin lowers body temperature to the point that one falls to sleep naturally.

If that's all it does, it seems pretty benign.

I don't know. I didn't take anything last night and slept OK. I don't know how that works. Our body manufactures melatonin to help with sleep and that it can help people who have trouble sleeping. That's all that I know.

Coffee, Tanya.

It's already 82 headed for 91 with some scattered showers around N. MS.

Today is back porch day. We haven't gotten it completely ready and it's so much cooler back there with few flies compared to out front.

Good morning, all. We have 55F under sunny skies, heading for a forecast high of 77F. Good, we're back to Goldilocks weather.

My son is riding his bike in the STP (Seattle to Portland) event this weekend, a ride of 200 miles. They do 100 miles a day, and it's supposed to get very hot in Portland tomorrow, around 100F.

As for me, I'm lazing in my house and doing nothing strenuous.

Iced coffee, please, Tanya.

Ah.... Thanks for the sleep info! I actually dropped off almost instantly when I went to bed, slept like a rock, and only moved once from the bed to the recliner. I was up by 8:45, which is very, very early for me. But I slept hard, and that was great. I'm awfully stiff, though, since I didn't move much.... emoticon

It's already 84 at 11 am, going up to the mid-90s. But I'm watching a complex of heavy storms coming across the Illinois line (12 hours ahead of predictions), so hopefully it will bring a little relief.

*whew* Dave has a ton of energy, Robbie! But that heat!

Enjoy your back porch, Cooter!
