(]CNN) - Flynn joins consulting firm ahead of criminal sentencing

Oops!!!

Now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Mike Flynn is saying he is NOT accepting the consulting job!!! Ummmmmmmmmm.... And that statement he made, all excited about joining the firm? Well.... Flynn's attorneys say that Flynn knew a statement was being drafted, but HE didn't actually say that.... And that he didn't intend to release any statement at this time....

Hmmmm.... Methinks he was expecting a different result at today's hearing....

Re: Hearings on Wiretapping, Leaks, and Russia

Interesting....

Mueller made a filing on Manafort today, talking about what Manafort has been telling his friends on monitored prison phone calls.

He's telling his friends he's being "treated like a VIP." He says he has a "private, self-contained living unit, which is larger than other inmates' units, his own bathroom and shower facility, his own personal telephone, and his own workspace to prepare for trial." And he's not required to wear a prison uniform.

He also says he has figured out a work-around for the "no email" rule. "He reads and composes emails on a second laptop that is shuttled in and out of the facility by his team. When the team takes the laptop from the jail, it reconnects to the internet and Manafort's emails are transmitted."

Mueller's filing says "Manafort also has a personal telephone in his unit, which he can use over twelve hours a day to speak to his attorneys. According to prison telephone logs, in the last three weeks Manafort has had over 100 phone calls with his attorneys, and another 200 calls with other persons.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, WHAT was the judge saying about not being able to take Manafort's phone away?

He's emailing -- and smirking about getting around the rules. He's making phone calls left and right???

And WHAT was he whining about, that he just couldn't prepare for trial because he was so far away from his attorneys???

I wonder if there are a bunch of parents on the border who would like to have those facilities....

Paul Manafort to be moved from jail where prosecutors say he has ‘VIP’ treatment

by Rachel Weiner July 11 at 5:16 PM

A federal judge in Alexandria has ordered Paul Manafort to be moved to the city jail, although Manafort has asked to stay in a Northern Neck, Va., facility where prosecutors say he is receiving special treatment.

U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis wrote in a filing published Wednesday that Manafort’s “access to counsel and his ability to prepare for trial trumps his personal comfort.”

Manafort, the former Trump campaign manager, had asked for his July 25 federal trial in Alexandria on bank and tax fraud charges to be delayed in large part because it was difficult to prepare while incarcerated 100 miles away. But on Tuesday, Manafort resisted being moved to Alexandria, arguing that while the city jail would be more convenient, he did not want to adjust to new circumstances so close to trial.

“It is surprising and confusing when counsel identifies a problem and then opposes the most logical solution to that problem,” Ellis wrote. “The dissonance between defendant’s motion to continue and motion opposing transfer to the Alexandria Detention Center cannot easily be explained or resolved.”

Prosecutors said in a court filing Wednesday that in recent jailhouse phone calls, Manafort has told people he is being treated like a “VIP” in the Northern Neck jail, where he has his own phone and computer, writes emails and does not have to wear a uniform.

Moreover, attorneys for Robert S. Mueller III’s special counsel probe say Manafort wants the trial delayed only for strategic reasons.

The attorneys say Manafort explained in vague terms in a recent phone call why he wanted to go to trial first in D.C. federal court, where he faces related charges in a trial set for September.

“Think about how it’ll play elsewhere,” Manafort said, according to the court filing. “There is a strategy to it, even in failure, but there’s a hope in it.”

The prosecutors say that in recent phone calls from jail, Manafort also has said he has “all my files like I would at home,” has “gone through all the discovery now,” and is being treated like a “VIP.”

Manafort speaks to his attorneys every day and often multiple times a day, they said. While the calls are limited to 15 minutes in length, there is no limit on how many calls he can make.

“Among the unique privileges Manafort enjoys at the jail are a private, self-contained living unit, which is larger than other inmates’ units, his own bathroom and shower facility, his own personal telephone and his own workspace to prepare for trial,” the prosecutors wrote. “Manafort is also not required to wear a prison uniform.” He also has a personal laptop, they say, with an extension cord so he can use it in his unit and not just the workroom.

I just saw Rachel Maddow report the judge's ruling....

Oh, my gosh. I LOVE this judge!!! He's not playing ANY games with Manafort or his attorneys.

Somewhere in the ruling, the judge addressed Manafort's concerns about safety in the Alexandria jail by saying that the correctional officers have a great deal of experience in handling terrorists, traitors, and spies!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! emoticon

Are you all watching the Strzok hearing before the House Judiciary and Oversight committees? Intense! I'm in here resting from the questions for a minute.

My heavens, this is horrific!!!

One of the Dems finally said that this looked EXACTLY like one of the Russian show trials.

And he's right.

Gohmert just flatly accused Strzok of lying throughout his testimony today. And after multiple shout-outs from Dems demanding that he retract the accusation, Gohmert refused.

Goodlatte and Gowdy are disgusting, but the ENTIRE Republican side are absolutely disgusting right along with them. Rules of the committee and parliamentary procedure have been destroyed left and right in their mad rush to destroy the Mueller investigation at all costs....

How very, very dangerous these congressional Republicans are.... And they'll hand us over to Russian control on Trump's demand at any time.

If they haven't already.

I find it interesting that the Republicans on the committee keep telling Strzok that he has horrible political bias, how his political beliefs prevent him from doing his work, how he has an answer for everything (while criticizing him when he CAN'T answer), how he's his worst enemy because he looks angry or is wearing a smirk....

All the while, these Republicans are describing their OWN behavior -- and on steroids!

I watched the Republican version of kangaroo court briefly. They crucify Strzok with innuendo and implication punctuated by personal attacks. It is disgusting to see the Republicans shaming themselves time and time again in servitude to Donald Trump. What the !@#$ are they doing and why are they doing it. To ingratiate themselves with our victim-in-chief?

It is sad to see people sacrifice their last vestiges of integrity for him. Particularly people who believe themselves to be responsible and independent and who now blame everything on something or someone other than themselves rather than take responsibility for themselves, buying into Trump’s aggrievement con. It is sad but sadder still is the fact that it is to be expected.

So true, Brick. It is absolutely astonishing how many people -- career civil servants, career members of the military, career legislators -- have destroyed their reputations and even their careers falling on their swords for this man.

Dangerous, dangerous, dangerous.

This hearing if heartening to me because Strzok is fighting back and Democrats on the committee are fighting back against the blatant and obvious bias of the chairman and Republicans on the committee, not to mention Gohmert's meltdown.

OMG.... Ms. Watson-Coleman from New Jersey just yelled at Trey Gowdy, telling him that he's been out of control for the entire time he has served on this committee.

And then told him this is NOT Benghazi!

Gowdy immediately yielded to her.

Belle, I am glad to see so many Dems -- and Strzok -- with spines and standing up. I hope Americans are watching this to see precisely why their votes for Democrats are so critical this fall....

FOX will carry only those parts in which Republicans are making unhinged charges against Strzok and show none of Strzok's answers.

True, Robbie....

But you know what is starting to occur to me?

The absolutely desperate FRENZY these Republican members of Congress are whipping themselves into.... It reminds me of animals that are desperately trying to protect their own lives....

Maybe the Trump Russia investigation is too narrow. Perhaps the FBI should open an investigation to determine if some of these members of Congress were conspiring with Russians to help Trump into the presidency, too....

The Republicans have repeatedly misrepresented what the IG report concluded and then proceeded with their interrogation of Peter Strzok as though their misrepresentations were true. Alternative facts are the foundation for this farce.

So am I, Robbie. Goodlatte’s treatment of Strzok was the stuff of banana republics. Strzok, “May I respond?” Chairman Goodlatte, “No, no question was posed”. This after Strzok was subjected to countless personal attacks based on lies. And this travesty happened over and over again. And the Republicans sit there, smugly secure in the knowledge that their base will swallow this garbage whole. Mission accomplished.
