Aloha!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 82 and partly cloudy this AM with a projected high in the upper eighties. It didn't rain yesterday and I got my yard done. My poor yard guy is kind of behind because of the almost daily rain. My grass was kind of up there.

Just trying to tend to some minor things around the place. I'm still feeling kind of tired even though I'm getting plenty of sleep. I've been tiring easily the last few days. I suppose at least to some extent it goes with the territory. Maybe I just need to exercise more.

Morning, Rumpions:

57 here, and sunny and slightly breezy. My hair gets cut and colored today.

At Safeway in Oak Harbor, Rainier cherries are $[sign in to see URL] a pound, Robbie.

What is the dissertation about, Lis?

I haven't seen any in my locally owned grocery store. They may not have been able to get any. I just buy them when they do. When we do get them we only get them for a short time and I just pay whatever for them.

We get them for only a short time, too. It turns out the birds get a whole lot of the crop before the farmers do.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Hello, all. All is quiet here. We’re dog sitting for Michele’s dogs. Michele got a sweet deal on a house on Ana Maria Island. It’s huge and on the water and she’s sharing it with another family which makes it reasonable for both. They’ve got it for four days.

It’s a pleasant evening. I’m sitting on the porch listening to Steely Dan. I walked solo again this morning. Our signals were crossed and Jerry was finishing up as I was leaving. That was the end of my outdoor activities for the day.

I plan to do the yard work tomorrow morning but that’s about it.

I hope the venting solves the problem with the pilot light, Robbie. It sounds reasonable to me. Even before houses were built as tight as they are today we built in fresh air supplies for fireplaces that we built. It allowed the fireplace to draw properly without taking oxygen from the house and didn’t create suction should a door be opened while a fire was burning. That is now a requirement.

I hope the vent will help, Robbie.

Hope you had a good day, Cooter.

Belle, the dissertation is about educational technology. He is comparing four different types of delivery systems for online content in college courses. I'm only halfway through the first chapter, but it's interesting. emoticon

Hope you enjoy your cut and color, Belle.

Sounds like you're having a good day, Brick.

I had three board meetings back-to-back today, so was gone from 11 am to after 5 pm. Wiped out. Picked up an extra editing project to do for the school district, but I don't think it will take more than a day at some point. Naptime is definitely in my immediate future.

It seems you were ahead of the times, Brick. I, too, hope the vent works. It's a six-inch round vent and looks like it ought to let in air without letting in bugs or too much cold in the winter.

Fingers crossed.

Haircut and facial day. I don’t particularly enjoy haircuts, so I precook my appointments to make sure I get it done.

Good day. Walmart and unloading was tough. I'm not sure what that deal is. DD and I had a nice dinner out. I was trying to figure out what to do with squash casserole tomorrow night when DD reminded me of the asparagus and I all of a sudden thought of a pork tenderloin in the freezer. It should thaw by morning and I can marinade it.

Glad you had a good day, Cooter. My back was aching. At least the chairs at the beauty salon are comfortable. DH asked me to try again to get baby back ribs to smoke and again I was unsuccessful.

Ouch, Birdz. Glad you got your haircut done and hope tomorrow is better. emoticon

So glad you had a good day, Cooter. emoticon

I've been listening to a rebroadcast of a talk radio program Andrew's candidate was on this morning. I continue to be very impressed with her.

Andrew wanted an explanation of the difference between AM and FM radio, and wondered why anyone would have ever chosen to hear AM radio. emoticon Ah, youth.

I don't know when we first got FM radio. Until sometime in my 20s FM radio wasn't part of something of which I was aware. When I finally did learn of FM, it played only classical music and had golf-whisper announcers who assumed we all knew about whatever opera aria they played, and made a droll statement about it to the in-crowd.

Andrew also doesn't know about phones with party lines, or milk in bottles delivered to a box on your porch based on the little flags the homeowner had put on the box, or TVs with rabbit ears. And his grandchildren will be amazed about what he didn't have as a kid.

My mother's parents still had a phone in a big wooden box that hung on the wall with a crank on the side. One had to crank it to get an operator who would connect them to whomever they wanted to call. Our house was more modern than that, and I was enthralled by theirs.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Morning, Rumpions:

Waterless Thursday has come around again. King Water, the company that looks after our water here in Northgate Terrace, flushes the pipes on the second Thursday of the month; so we must plan to be without running water from 9 to 5 those days. The water is not off for all of those hours. We just don't know which of them it WILL be off, so we have to draw water in case we need it, and wash our clothes in the machine on other days.

I precook my hair-cutting appointments too, Birdz. Otherwise, one day I notice that I can't see anything because of an obstruction in front of my eyes, and have to call my hairdresser just hoping she has time to remove it in the next few days.

FM radio was a wonderful relief from country-western music in the early days in East Texas. The Texaco Metropolitan Opera of the Air was on AM, but only once a week. There were six other days of drought. Actually there were some Sunday classical music programs whose names I have forgotten (was there a Firestone-sponsored thing?), so only five days of total drought. I never have missed the Good Old Days. Not THOSE Good Old Days. There have been some middle Good Old Days between then and now that I miss.

Guten Morgen!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 82 and pretty clear this morning looking to get to about 90 degrees with little chance of rain.

I got to sleep nicely but after I woke up around 2:30 for the first time I didn't sleep very well thereafter. I wound up taking a second sleeping pill after the first one didn't take hold but did sleep some more after that. Of course after taking the second one was when Shadow decided that she needed some attention.

Good morning, all. We have 63F under light overcast, heading for a high of 79F. Now we're getting beyond Goldilocks range.

Belle has reminded me I need to water the yard today. That may be my one chore for the day.

Coffee, please, Tanya.
