Good morning, all. It's 56 degrees with overcast skies, heading for a high of 68. If it's like yesterday, the clouds will burn off about noon, and we'll get sunshine in the afternoon. Sounds good to me.

Good luck with the gasoline hunt, Brick. I hope you find some.

Belle, I've never heard of a choline cocktail before.

Peter, are we to root for the Vermont Lake Monsters? I wouldn't want to cheer for the wrong team.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

51 degrees here, and lots of blue in the sky. A little while ago there was a graceful, curvy cloud in the sky that looked like a question mark without its dot underneath. I've been wondering what the question could be.

7:48 a.m. There's the sun!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 61 and overcast here at Sleepy Casa. Wound up taking a sleeping pill @ 2:30 or so, and would like to still be asleep, but really need to get the day going.

Ark II is Noah's second coming, Belle. Let's [sign in to see URL] highest point in MS is a little over 500 ft. above sea level, and I think we're between 2 and 300.

It's an egg day, and I may fix some grits since I haven't had any in a couple of weeks. I'm only having the baked hash brown once a month or so to cut down on potassium intake. That's been the only thing that Doc said I need to get down.

Good morning all. 58 degrees and sunny here on the Driftless Area. A forecasted afternoon high of 82. The through the weekend we have forecasts for near record high temperatures in the upper 80s. Then on Monday we begin reverting to more typically seasonable weather.

Brick, good [sign in to see URL] your fuel search. Hopefully the shortages will be short lived. Although a lot depends upon the damage that Harvey inflicted on the refineries in Texas and .louisiana.

And Peter, best of luck to the Lake Monsters. Another long summer Barack Obama, me and for our White Sox.

Well I'm off to town to see what damage I can inflict on a group of 19 and 20 year old minds. lol.

We're just getting to 71 today. I may have to get out some light, long house pants.

We're supposedly in for another sunny and hot day today, with a high around 90.

Starting Friday, things will begin to cool down, and the mid-day CU vs. Northern Colorado game in Boulder on Saturday will see temps in the low- to mid-70s. YAY!! My seat is on the east side of the stadium, so I get the full impact of the sun on hot days during afternoon games. (I also get a glorious view of the Flatirons and the Front Range Rockies west of Boulder, so it's worth sitting in the sun most of the time.) emoticon

OK, I peeked at the expected temperature and it's supposed to top off at 106 degrees today. Everything else in the 10 day forecast is in the upper 90's though, so it's starting to back off a little. I don't know how the folks without power in the Irma affected areas are doing without AC, so I'm counting my blessings in that regard.

The phone company is on their way to upgrade my internet connection today. Wish me luck.

Good luck to Chuck!

I can have mine do that over the phone, as well as modify my cable options.

It's always a little odd when your favorite minor league team makes the Championship Series. On the one hand, they might win it [sign in to see URL] that's a very good thing. On the other hand, it means that while their players are good, there are players on teams that didn't even make the playoffs who were picked up by AA and AAA affiliates during the regular season, which weakened their teams' chances.

After all, farm teams are intended to feed MLB with the next batch of starters. So, maybe the Lake Monsters are where they are, simply via a war of attrition?

Screw that! Go Lake Monsters!

I love the mascot names of minor league baseball teams.

Thanks, all. I found fuel just a few minutes from my house. I had to wait around 20 minutes, but it was orderly and people were generally in good humor. I got it in plenty of time to get to the VA clinic on time, and I was home from there in time to mow and trim before it got too hot. I left a little to do in the morning before my 1:30 appointment with the dermatologist. After that little bit I'll be caught up and ready for company. Well, the houses and yards anyway. 😎

The Taylor, Texas, high school football team is called the Ducks. They play the Hutto Hippos and the Pflugerville Panthers.

It did. Thanks, Robbie. Michele, who is still without electricity, is here with the kids. They're cooling down in the pool as I post. We're going to order pizza for dinner. They'll shower here too. She has a gas water heater but it has an electric pilot light, so no hot water either.

As for me, I'm relaxing and having a smoke on the front porch admiring my handiwork. Everything looks neat and trim. The debris is neatly stacked and ready for curbside pickup. They've delayed their scheduled pickups by a day. They should be here tomorrow.

I was feeling pretty good about myself today, having cleaned the stove, which needed it bad, and taking care of a few other things. I read what Brick takes care of when he's not feeling good and/or the weather is bad, and I [sign in to see URL]? Yeah, my place is like some little shop in Key West with junk all over. Know what? I have great entertainment stuff, which is important to me, and especially since guitar is pretty much out of the picture, although I'm going to give it another shot with maybe some natural pain killer. emoticon

Yeah, what I accomplished today seems small compared to that of the mighty bricklayer, too. Stood around and talked to the guy upgrading the DSL modem (which works swell) and then talked to DirecTV about the signal that was lost on one of my sets (probably when the DSL guy walked all over the ancient cables lol). Another tech visit tomorrow to fix that.

LOL! A day and a half a month every two weeks. And it wears me out. I've always liked the smell of freshly mown grass and the look of it right after mowing.

My garage is a whole other story, marginally organized chaos. And our house has that well lived in look, but it's ours.

At this point I'm really happy that I'm able to do physical work again. And it tires me out now rather than making me feel like I'm about to keel over every five minutes. 😎

This afternoon I gave five hats I have recently knitted and one scarf to the local Interfaith Council who gives them to needy people in the winter.

I've almost broken my arm from patting myself on my back.
