I think it was Chef Paul Prudhomme who recommended using a variety (more than one type) of peppers in a recipe for a richer flavor. I was given an autographed (by the chef himself) copy of his cookbook, "Fork in the Road." I found the recipes a lot of work, and I don't particularly enjoy cooking.

I do use green and red together in some things. More often when they're affordable or we start to get them coming in.

Thanks! I think I'll ask Brett to give them a try -- maybe a few of each and then I can see what the difference is. I'm not a good experimenter. emoticon

I think what Prudhomme was referring to was a variety of the types of peppers, IOW, bell peppers, cubanelle peppers, and other sweet or hot peppers if desired.

Buenos dias!

Cafe, Tanya.

It's 72 and probably sunny since it's headed for ninety today. I have downloaded and installed a free email program, but I cannot import my address book. I can't even find it on my jump drive for some reason. I'll fiddle with it later.

Got the Done and CT scans this morning, so I'll be out of here soon.

Re: The Rumpus Room

I used to do a lot of gardening and I grew all sorts of varieties of peppers. One year, the long, sweet Italian peppers I was tending cross pollenated with the cayennes, bearing a long, red, sweet, mildly hot pepper that became an instant favorite. Like all Frankenstein creations though, it was one-of-a-kind and I was never able to duplicate the experiment.

I'm in Year III of my anti-gardening period right now, no longer the avid backyard horticulturist I once was. This allows far more time for kayaking and fishing. If my knees and back are going to hurt at the end of a few hours activity, I prefer that the time be spent on the water now.

Heh heh heh, Peter! emoticon

Hope all goes well with your scan, Cooter.

Mom woke me up early to cancel her appointment with her cardiologist this morning. I really hate cancelling and rescheduling.... Then, as I was about to make the call, the cardiologist's office called HER -- cancelling the appointment, as he had an emergency. Okay.... All rescheduled....

Good morning, all. We have 58F with bright blue skies and sunshine, heading for a forecast high of 74F. Yay for Goldilocks weather!

Just some light puttering on my agenda for today. I need to clean out a kitchen junk drawer. Maybe I'll actually do it!

Coffee, please, Tanya.

I'm back home from the CT scan and was able to fit in a haircut with my hair lady at her new location. The bone scan will be at eleven.

This makes me think of the time years back when I first got diagnosed and was going through all sorts of stuff in radiology, diagnostics, and radiation. Pretty young thangs kept saying that I had to take my pants down.

Good luck with the scans, Cooter.

Good morning, everyone. It is a glorious rainy day in the neighborhood. Cool and wet and the reaction by the flora is visible. The weather lends itself to a laid back day of reading. I’ve been playing chess vs the computer on indoor days as well. I beat it when I’m playing black, lose when playing white, but I’m getting closer. The computer is set on level four of ten. I’ve worked my way up but it’s been many years since I’ve played with any regularity. It stirs my brains which need stirring from time to time.

Your clouds have the BEST silver linings, Cooter!

Sunny and 65 already at 9:17 a.m.

I feel so RESTED after the wonderful three days my sister and her husband were here. He is a keeper. He is a terrific story-teller. I love stories. At the apartment house in Bothell where my best friends live, there is a sign outside the library that says, "We are made of our stories."

All of that for a CT of your head? *G*

Hope your bone scan went just as well, Cooter.

Congrats on your great chess matches, Brick! But boy, I'll trade you weather. We're supposed to go up to 90 with dew points near 70. Blech. This is August weather! Grateful to be staying in today....

LOVE that library sign, Belle! It's true....

We're supposed to be in for some bumpy weather today, most likely when we have to leave for the Lions Club meeting. I don't want to miss it, because the speakers sound interesting, and represent a local organization that promotes healthy youth lifestyles.

You're probably getting what's been arcing north of us, Birdz. Such a weird dome.... This front is draped just north of us, and we've been watching the storms come across northern Illinois, then arc up into Michigan, then come back down across Ohio. Cameron said he's in for storms today, and he's not all that far from you. Hope you're able to get to your meeting!

I'm on the edge of a tornado warning for the next seven minutes and a severe t-storm warning has just been issued. The skies look ominous.

The CT scan checks your body for whatever it looks for. The full body bone scan checks all of those. My left knee has gone batshit today, but I got the grass and weeds pulled from the front small bed and also planted cucumbers in front of my bedroom.

Re: The Rumpus Room

I had a lovely, lovely Mother's Day celebration. My older son and DIL had dropped off a package on Saturday while I was at the farmers' market, presenting me with a new sun hat for me to wear while working in the garden.

The real treat was on Sunday, though, when Mr. Queue and I headed into Denver after church to see the Degas exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. This is the ONLY such ]Degas exhibit in the country, and it was fantastic!

Afterward, we had dinner at our favorite seafood restaurant downtown, with Mr. Queue indulging in fresh lobster and yours truly having the halibut since I am allergic to lobster, alas. We had agreed earlier that neither one of us wanted to be designated driver, so we had reserved a room at Denver's oldest (and wonderfully renovated) hotel, ]The Oxford, which is our favorite place to stay in the city.

After finally trundling off to bed close to midnight, I received a humorous text from younger son, stating, "Crap! I meant to call earlier after I got off work, but I totally spaced it out. Happy Mother's Day! I hope you had a good one!" Too funny... emoticon

I might have told you before, Lis, but I often make stuffed peppers using the red, orange and yellow bell peppers and stuffing them with a cornbread-sausage stuffing rather than the more common hamburger, rice and tomato stuffing in green bell peppers. And I like to put shredded cheddar cheese on top. Those peppers are much milder, IMHO, and they don't give me heartburn like the green ones do. Knowing your aversion to (most) green vegetables, I would think you'd enjoy the other peppers more than the green ones. emoticon
