Ah, Cooter. Mom LOVES those Marie Callendar chicken pot pies.

She was down most of the day. Storm front is near, and I've been in a lot of pain, so I assumed that was it. About 4:00, she asked if Brett would bring home a Wendy's burger and fries for her for supper. Okay....

Within an hour after eating, she was calling for help. Turns out she had been sick to her stomach during the day. And then she decided she was hungry. For a burger and fries. THAT didn't last long.

Poor Mommy.... emoticon

Poor Mommy, indeed.

I hope she's feeling better as the evening wears on.

I hope your mom is doing better this morning, Lis. Happy Mother’s Day to you and all of our resident mothers. We’ll be seeing the kids today, and face timing with the ones who aren’t within driving range. I had planned on doing ribs on the Egg, but the weather doesn’t look like it will be cooperating today. I’ll figure something out.

I’m going to take advantage of the pre-rain cloudiness and walk in the park. I’m flying solo this morning. When we last spoke we had decided not to go because of the forecast. I haven’t changed the plan but I’m going. Sometimes I prefer walking alone. It’s a very different experience then walking with others.

Coffee to go please, Tanya.

Good morning, all. We're starting out at 54F under bright blue, sunny skies, heading for a forecast high of 75F. Goldilocks weather -- not too hot, not too cold.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, the grandmas, the aunts, the big sisters, and everyone else who has nurtured children. I hope it's a wonderful day!

My son and I have done Mother's Day brunch for years at a local restaurant but when he called for reservations this year he was told they're not doing Mother's Day brunch any more. So we're going elsewhere to dinner tonight, instead, while my daughter-in-law is with her mother.

Laundry is underway. The house elf has disappeared again.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Good morning, and Happy Mother's Day! emoticon

I got a big surprise when our back door alarm went off at about 2 am -- Andrew came home for Mother's Day! emoticon

Brett's step-mom is coming over for dinner around 6:30. Brett is promising beef stroganoff. Sounds fantastic. emoticon

Happy Mother's Day!

It's 76 and sunny here in the woods. I've had another good night's rest and that certainly makes the days better.

I don't have much planned today. I'll call Janet for Mother's Day. I need to make a Walmart run for Walmart stuff. That will be wonderful.

A few days ago I stopped in Shoe Carnival to get some sandals after I found out I could wear them. My feet get hot sometimes inside in shoes. They were having a promotion and I got a nice pair of sandals and a slip on a pair of Sketchers, I think they are, all for $42 bucks. I put on the Sketchers to wear for a while to get used to them. With those soles it's different. I have to watch how I'm walking for a while.

I hope that all of you mothers have a wonderful day! This is another time that I think of mine. How she put up with me when I was young is a question for the ages. There was never anyone better.

Just got back from paddling/fishing on Shelburne Pond. The Canada Geese were getting frisky, as were the largemouth bass. Caught and released a pre-spawn female bass that was loaded with roe. Putting fish back in the water has been a lot easier since I started crimping the barbs off all of my hooks. I lose a few fish that way, but what do I care? I'm not going to keep them anyway.

Happy Mommy Day to all the mommies! Hope someone spoils you rotten today.

I do that some when we're trout fishing. We do a lot of catch and release and once we've got supper and a few to take back for the freezer we like to leave them in the river.

The pills haven't kicked in yet and I'm cleaned up, dressed, and ready to tackle Walmart! It takes a while sometimes.

I've got to get up early for a CT scan and bone scan. I wish they wouldn't start so early, but it's an all morning deal.

He was home for two weeks and then decided to go back, so he would be immediately available for interviews. It's been two weeks -- and there have been no interviews. He's pretty discouraged. His political friends there say the jobs have dried up after the primary. [sign in to see URL]'s going to have to find either a field position for the general election (which he doesn't want to do) or find an administrative-type position in an agency (which he doesn't want to do) or find a position with the party, a lobbying group, or the media (which he doesn't want to do). I keep pointing out that he's just 24 -- this isn't going to be his dream job. He just needs something that is going to pay the rent.

Oh! I guess I hadn't realized he'd gone back.

I'm sorry things have dried up, though.

I thought it was hysterical! LMAO!!

I scored a purple Island Pepper at Home Depot. Must have gotten some more stuff in. DD is planting it. She does peppers and tomatoes. We've red, green and purple peppers along with two kind of tomatoes and two cocktail tomatoes. We'll finish with the impatiens and plant cucumbers tomorrow late. I bought two ferns for the front porch even though they cost a lot now. The look really nice hanging on either side.

I'm back from Mother's Day dinner with Dave. We went to The Fork at Agate Bay ( [sign in to see URL] ), which Dave and Lynne have been to before but I hadn't. YUM! I had halibut; Dave had salmon. We traded bites and both were wonderful!

I hope everyone else has had a lovely day, too.

We did.... Brett's step-mom just left about a half-hour ago after about four hours here. Beef stroganoff, crescent rolls, corn on the cob, and fresh strawberries. Oh, heavens, summer is here! emoticon

I have a question about peppers.... I absolutely LOVE stuffed green peppers. But I've noticed that sometimes they're bitter, even when blanched. Would another pepper work better? I haven't tasted the other colors of peppers, and when I've asked, people say they've never seen anyone try stuffed peppers with a different color.... Advice?

Green peppers are unripe red or orange or yellow peppers. The green ones are less sweet and slightly more bitter than red peppers.

Given my crabby tummy, I can no longer eat green peppers, but the colored ones work perfectly.

Try them!

I like the green ones for cooking and various other things. The red and orange ones are a little pricey sometimes. We're growing green, red and purple. The purple ones are super sweet!!

We had marinated boneless skinless chicken thighs, baby Bella mushroom caps stuff with cheese and this kind of oriental salad that DD got that has nuts, cheese and stuff that go with it along with dressing. She added some strawberries and it was really good.
