Coupla pounds of baby back ribs, some baby zucchini, and a pile of collards. Braise those ribs, roast 'em afterwards and then put them on the fire with a nice sauce. The collards are easy and the zucchini will be marinated in olive oil before being roasted on the fire. I need to make a good salad too. I've got a nice chablis chilling.

This morning, my wife suggested we should order dinner to go tonight.

What fun is that?

I'm taking two racks of baby backs to left field. I get St. Louis when they're available at a good price. They're real ribs.

I took a small rack, cut it half and "processed" it that way. I haven't made ribs in an age and I used to make 'em all the time.

I don't recall seeing that one, and I'm old [sign in to see URL].

When I do ribs I don't prepare as much as I used to. A half a rack is plenty for me, and I'm not fond of leftovers.

Exactly! Lauren and I will split the rack between us. It's enough, what with all of the veggies.

The ribs were popular. I'm working on my rub again and although didn't think they were what I wanted I wouldn't throw them away. They disappeared nicely. I didn't eat too many to make sure others could have some.

Good morning, all. We have 54F under cloudy skies. The forecast is they'll clear later in the day and we'll get up to 64F. Sounds fine.

I'm later than usual this morning because I went to a drive-by giving that my son and his on-air partner support by broadcasting from a collection location. I got to be a radio star for maybe 60 seconds to help encourage people to donate.

That may be my major good work for the day.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Cafe', Tanya.

It's 76 and sunny today here at the hospice center. My knees are giving me a hard time, but I'm going to wait to take anything until late this afternoon so I'll be OK for the ballgame. Of course that's subject to change when I start working outside.

Shadow decided that it was time for me to pet her in my bed, so she's had a lot of attention. Then when I wouldn't get up later, she fixed the little throw rug in the doorway to my room so I couldn't open it. I don't know what she was doing, but I could hear that she was having a good time.

I am making more word errors and my grammar program catches almost all of them.

Re: Buon giorno!

Hi, all. It’s 80 and rising this morning, expected to reach into the low 90s this afternoon. Summer is on its way. It’s still dry, but starting on Sunday we’re expecting rain for the following week. I can’t wait for that. I mowed a couple of days ago and created a dust storm. I had to hose down the cars and fronts of the houses after I finished. The coming rains should be the start of the rainy season and put an end to that nonsense, he said hopefully.

Things in these parts are going reasonably well. No health complaints, I’m happy to say. I’m also happy to say that things are quiet. I hope you are doing ok, Cooter. Enjoy the game later. I was glad to see Birdz’ report that she’s feeling good. Robbie, I hope you enjoyed your dinner last night. I’m doing jerk shrimp and pineapple skewers on the charcoal grill tonight. We’ll have baked potatoes and corn on the cob to go with them. Maybe a margarita or two as well.

I had an appointment with one of my doctors today. He was pleased with what he saw. So was I. Although I had to fill out a small book to update information which hasn’t changed for years.

I've taken some pain medication and would really like for it to take hold. Today is bad. Yesterday was OK after I took my meds and topped them off a few times as they started to wear off. This may be a day when I have to take more, and I will if I have to.

A chainsaw has been going for a good 2-3 hours and I hope that the silence that I hear now means that it's [sign in to see URL].

I hope this stuff will kick in. I have some things that I wanted to get done outside. If I have to top this off, I will. Bubba is going to take care of himself!

Bubba has finished planting pots and hanging baskets for the back porch. I have to take breaks. I'm foregoing the baseball game today so that I'll be better for tomorrow when I have some guests from Memphis.

I also got the antenna loose on my wagon so I can use the good car wash that uses brushes. WD40 and vice grips, baby!!

Laundry is now folded and taken back to my room. I just had myself a little pick me up.

I found some sugar free chocolate chunk cookies that are quite good! Yay for sugar free!!

DD and I have had a productive day. I need to get another bag of soil and a few more plants. She's gone to the baseball game and I'm taking it easy so that I can entertain my guests tomorrow.

Thank goodness for Marie Callendar. She comes in SO handy at various times for various reasons.

[sign in to see URL]'s keep plenty of the good Chardonnay up for The Miz so she can hide her driver's license pic.

Isn't the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car, Peter? (That is the steering wheel mechanics that esoteric tool is fixing, isn't it?)

Good spotting, Belle. And as I look more closely the speedometer appears to be in KPH rather than MPH.

Looking a bit British, I'd say.

The value of the vice grip is respected throughout the planet. It is the universal tool.

Speaking of universal tools.... Cameron swears that all anyone needs is WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it's supposed to, use WD-40. If it's NOT supposed to move and it does, use duct tape. emoticon

Ugh on the driver's license picture, Robbie. They made me take my glasses off (as if I drive without them?) and not smile -- and then got so close that you can't see my shirt. I look naked. Joy. When I'm killed in a car crash and they put my driver's license picture up on the screen (as they always do around here), a whole lot of people will be horrified....

Delivered Meals on Wheels this morning. We're up to eight people on our route now, so it takes about two hours to get it all done. People are SO nice, and they want to talk.... But we've got other people's food that is going to get warm/cold.... Feel bad, so try to talk and move at the same time....

Then came back to take Mom to her weekly hair appointment. For the very first time in all these months, she didn't wash and set her own hair and spray the heck of it just as we were going out the door -- for the hairdresser to wash and set it all over again. She asked me, "Doesn't it look awful?" No, it sincerely didn't. Then she asked if it looked just as good as the hairdresser does it. Well, no -- but that's WHY you're going to the hairdresser! emoticon Then, after she was done, we left and picked up Taco Bell -- when she realized she hadn't paid the hairdresser. So we had to go all the way back across town to do that.... And by the time we got home, my taco shell was mush. Blech.

Tonight, our high school had its senior recognition evening. I worked behind the curtain for many, many years. Now I sit on stage with the other school board members. Every student who has won an academic award or scholarship is brought out on stage, one by one under a spotlight, and that student's achievements are read for everyone to hear. It is the coolest thing.... I just love to see these kids get their moment of recognition. Tonight, they announced that our senior class -- somewhere in the range of 400 kids -- has earned more than $4.6 MILLION in scholarships! And they're still coming in.... Very nice night.
