Lis - they only paint two fingers on top of the nail polish color, the ring fingers, usually, and they use some tools to get the fine detailing needed. Not everybody in the nail spa can do it either.

As expected, the shopping trip made my back ache, so I'm sitting with the heating pad.

Re: The Rumpus Room

Just dropped in to let anyone who cares that I survived my heart/kidney transplant surgeries.

The heart transplant was on January 9th, the kidney transplant on the 10th.

Unfortunately, I came down with flu a few days later and the doctors almost lost me a couple of times. Due to this, I was kept unconscious and intubated until the 26th.

I am still at the Mayo Clinic undergoing acute rehab (at least 3 hours a day).

My projected discharge date is May 23rd.

Good morning AZKC!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 68 and looks to be sunny this morning. It's great to have AZKC with us. Hopefully, he will continue his recovery in good fashion and be able to join us on a regular basis.

I don't recall ever having cold sores like this. I'd get one every several years but not a few.

I'm going to try to not take painkillers today, but we'll see what happens. I haven't had a lot of choices. At least they take the edge off so I can semi-function. I'm reading still and will talk to the Doctor before too much longer.

My grammar program will checks my punctuation and spelling also checks my word usage and lets me know when I'm using the wrong word, such as "ready" instead of "readying". I make more mistakes than I used to.

Hooray!

I had seen a post somewhere -- Facebook? -- from your daughter saying you had come through the surgeries well, but it was almost immediately after and I didn't know about the flu and subsequent scares. I'm glad you got through them.

Like Cooter, I hope you continue to join us.

Good morning, all. We have 56F under cloudy skies, but the clouds are supposed to burn off later and get us up to 65F.

When I first went out to the kitchen this morning I found a fairly fat, and quite dead, yellow jacket right next to the sink. I have no idea how it got in, but I'm glad I didn't have to deal with him when he was in better health.

Coffee, please, Tanya.

Great news, Azzy! Maybe I will get to know you if you start posting here again. Nobody can call you heartless, can they? (You've had two.)

Robbie, I'm glad you dodged that black and yellow bullet.

55 here and gloomy and breezy. I'm hoping to get my left hearing aid fixed today. The tube came loose, and I've been limping along on one ear. It's hard enough for people to talk to me when both hearing aids work. I remember everybody shouting at my grandfather when I was little. They had to explain to me that they were not mad at him; they just wanted him to hear them. And down through the generations, my relatives became deaf in their old age. A lot of them got dementia, too, so if I start talking funny...

Yellowjackets are the spawn of Satan. Wasps and bees have never bothered me much, but those things are bad news! The best thing for one of their stings is to moisten some tobacco in one's mouth and apply the resulting poltice to the sting. Works wonders.

I guess that whatever is producing the cold sores is affecting me. Although my knees and legs don't hurt quite as much, I'm not moving well because of what seems to be [sign in to see URL] I have anyway. I just don't feel up to snuff and may put off work. I can tell when I'm doing well enough to be able to take care of things, and when it's not a good [sign in to see URL]. Maybe I'm getting smarter. emoticon

AZKC! I'm so glad to hear you're doing better! Sorry for the scary parts of your recovery. I hope you'll continue to improve through your release date and beyond.

Birdz, your nails sound pretty! Hope your back feels better today.

Belle, sorry for your hearing issues. Hope you are able to get your hearing aid fixed soon! Both Brett and Mom have hearing loss issues, so I understand the frustration about having to repeat everything and sounding like you're mad when you're only trying to be loud....

Ugh on the cold sores and stiffness, Cooter. Hope you'll feel better soon.

Yellowjacket! *shudder* Glad you only had to view him in his demise!

Took Mom to an appointment this morning and have a school board meeting tonight. Busy week ahead....

My sweet audiologist, Jeanette, called at 9 this morning, as soon as she got my voice mail, and said to come in this afternoon to get the tubes replaced. She is one of the people I couldn't do without. Do you all ever think about how dependent we all are on professionals?

I've got bright sun! Do you have bright sun yet, Robbie?

It's sunny and 81 here.

My knees aren't too bad, so I've been outside digging in and pulling weeds out of my elevated gardens. I've already got some oregano that actually came up from last year that smells great when I work around it.

My back is going to hate me [sign in to see URL] than it already does [sign in to see URL] probably my legs too. That's OK. I'm glad to have finally gotten to this and maybe the heat helps.

I've ordered some great looking outside plant buckets from Amazon that will no doubt be better than the buckets I've used from Home Depot.

It's a matter of who is to be master, Cooter -- you or your legs. So far it's legs 0, Cooter 1. Now let's see how you do in the contest with your back.

I think that's all for me today. I got job one done which was to weed and replant the elevated gardens with spinach, Italian [sign in to see URL] some thyme up [sign in to see URL] a selection of gourmet leaf lettuce for salads. That stuff is really good, and I WILL replant again in early August this time.

I had an easy dinner and some interesting TV. Shadow spends a good part of the afternoons and evening right now in the other recliner. Y'all should hear her call to me when I when I either get out of my recliner or from the computer chair across the room. She's so funny! Pet me, Daddy!

I have my cleaning lady back and she'll be here tomorrow. It'll be a two-day job and I'm feeling guilty about some of it but I can only do so much without regretting it. She's good and will probably just start late in the AM and finish another day.

Hola!

Coffee, Tanya.

It's 70 and sunny here at Sleepy Acres. I didn't sleep that well last night, even though I did decently with the machine. I was having to take sleep aids.

My back isn't happy with me this morning, although it's not as back as I thought.

Cooter 1/2, back 1/2. That's a pretty good score, Cooter.

49 degrees here. It was foggy when I got up this morning. Then the sky cleared and the sun came out for a few minutes. Now it's foggy again, but I see a little sunglow through the fog. My computer is in a room with windows on three sides, so I can see what's going on out there from in here. I love this room.
