Re: Introduce yourself

Hi, Wulfe. It's great to meet a TZ member from the old days. From what I've heard, you all had a wonderful time together.

Tell me the story of your life.

Hi there! I used to post on TOL as various forms of Wulfe, which has nothing to do with my name, that being Ron. I'm 67 and semiretired in Southern Colorado. I still sometimes think about the old days on TOL, while we were still in the 20th C. They now seem so innocent.

It's good to see so many of you have stuck together. I've tried to ignore politics, but well, you know, there's a lot going on these days...

Wulfe! How nice to see you! Yes, some of us are still together, but too many have drifted away. Thanks for drifting back!

It's great to see that so many of you have stuck together. I try to control my social media habit, but I'll jump on here as often as I allow myself.

Yeah, it seems like the group has seen the same fragmentation of the body politic as the country at large. Can't say I miss some of them, to tell the truth, but I do often wonder want George Washington is up to.

I see him on Facebook from time to time. Let me stick my elbow in his ribs and see if he'll drop in.

Speaking of Facebook, how can I get in touch with those of you who are there? I can give my real life name via PM.

Hey, Wulfe!! Where are you in southern Colorado?
I grew up in the San Luis Valley. Then I went into exile after college in Boulder, living in New York City and San Francisco before finally returning to the Rockies about 8 years ago.

I'm not ignoring your request, Birdz. It's just that I am not on Facebook. I guess that's why I'm not worried about the Russians having all my data. emoticon

I hear ya, Susie. If i quit FB, I'd lose touch with my old amigos from my days of living in Argentina, and my HS classmates. The unofficial alumni association seems to have gravitated to FB. It's funny to see what my argentine friends say about their government and their politics. They are angry and depressed about the corruption in their country, and even though they vote (by law, they HAVE TO), nothing changes.

I have certain relatives who quarrel on Facebook, so I decided it was best to avoid it. If there's any news from family or friends that is important, Mr. Queue tells me about it.

I'm still very close to many of the people who were my schoolmates, and they all know that the best way to reach me is via telephone or email. Snail mail works, too. emoticon

My life is so boring that if the Russians downloaded every single character on my Facebook page, they'd get nothing more than a snoozefest!

Hi Susie! We live in Howard, on the east side of the Sangres, about 15 miles east of Salida. Been here for 14 years now, longer than any other place I've lived. I love the SLV. I go over there as often as I can.

I moved my Mom from FLA to an assisted living place in Canon City a few years back, and now my sister in law lives there too now. I think the region has been discovered.

I lived in Boulder, Eldorado Springs, and Longmont from 1976 to about '92, when we moved to Denver. Do you live in the Front Range now.

I love the area around Salida! I often stop either in Salida or Buena Vista on my way down to the valley. You're right -- that whole region of the state has been "discovered."

I live in Longmont now. I couldn't persuade Mr. Queue to move to the SLV. He's a "city boy" from New York who couldn't live somewhere as remote as the valley. We met at CU in Boulder, and we still have many college friends in the area, so he agreed to move back to this area. Boulder has gotten so congested -- and pricey -- that we decided Longmont was a better option.

It's a lovely place to live. There's a grade school just a couple of blocks away here in the Old Town section of Longmont.

The population is now around 85,000. When I was at CU in Boulder in the early 1970s, Longmont had maybe 8,500 people? The Old Town section hasn't changed much, but the city has grown up around us. Lots of cultural activities, good restaurants, terrific school system and, of course, the views of the Rockies to the west.
